I have had a CS9 and a 6” GP100 on consignment at a local store for about two months. No movement. My asking prices are reasonable and flexible. I looked on Gunbroker to see if they have any, and there aren’t a lot available - and few have any bids at all.

I plan to go to the store tomorrow and see what they say. I may take them back home, or see about trading. I hate to take the hit on a trade-in though. Or I may offer them on here.

Offer them for sale on the Forum here. Good used guns sell well, in my experience. Good pics and accurate descriptions help a lot.

This past weekend two pals of mine sold about 15 used handguns and rifles from their collections at a mid-state gun show. They priced them right and did not try to get the last nickel out of every gun. They pretty much sold everything on the table.

So, I'd say "Yep", people do buy good used guns.

LGS today told me they move more used guns than new! They typically have 40-50 used handguns and maybe a couple dozen long guns on any given day. Used guns are what brings me into most shops, looking for "a deal".

They do seem to have a few used guns that sit on the shelf for 2-3 months. Probably just not priced to move is my guess, given the zero amount of information provided.

Gun sales have dropped dramatically over the last two years, both new and used. Many gun related businesses are struggling and failing. The only business that has more boom and bust cycles than the firearms business is probably the oil indusrtry.

Dropped off a GP100 6" Blue, a Springfield EMP 40, a Smith 686+ 2.5" and a Ruger LC9 at the LGS on December 10.

Picked up a check for three of the four the first week of January and for the last one (the Springfield) the 2nd week of January.

Prices were as follows (all in factory box in good shape)

Ruger GP100 6" Blue - $449
Ruger LC9s - $200
S&W 686+ 2.5" - $625
Springfield EMP 40 S&W - $875

Gunbroker's prices are outrageous - if you want comparable, reasonable prices look at other sites that sell used firearms (Bud's is an example).

I can speak for the 6" GP100, but a nice CS9 priced right will move around my area in no time flat... but I'll say this: It has to be in the right shop. Put it in the wrong shop (or at the wrong price point) and it may never move. It has got to get the right exposure, preferably in a busy shop that lists its used inventory on-line.

Not knowing your area I cannot comment on your local market. If it is small that may be your issue. The classifieds here and Gunbroker reach a bigger market.

There have been so many new and improved models hitting the market as of late that other used gun sales have suffered.

My experience

In the past few months I've sold a Cooper .22, Browning
Hi-Power, and a Springfield 9mm Range Officer.
The Hi-Power sold in less than a week. The Cooper took several months but finally sold for more than I was asking.
I placed the RO on consignment first at a range and then at a gunshop with no luck but finally was able to sell it privately.

I bought three used S&Ws and a used Colt in December. Picked up two used Smith & Wessons so far in January. So I guess some folks are buying used guns.

Around here it seems sporadic. My closest LGS had the same dozen used / consignment pistols on the shelf, unmoved since November. They turned all but 3 Sunday afternoon.

I just bought one off of gunbroker. I do admit their prices are high but every now and then I steal one from them.
