Is there a less zippy .40 S&W round?

The little .40 S&W looks skimpy but it packs quite a wallup.

Does any manufacturer sell a less zippy .40 S&W round that will still cycle my Sig P226?

Federal makes a Reduced Recoil Hydra-Shok load in 40 S&W. I do not know if it will cycle your Sig however.

I think what you're wanting is a 9mm.

Unless you get into handloading and play with your recoil springs you are pretty much stuck with loads of the same power factor. The Federal 165gr reduced recoil load still has a fair amount of recoil it's just not as hot as some of the other manufactors 165s'. Another option would be to get a 9mm conversion barrel and mags for your 226.

Just last week I loaded up some light loads for my wife to shoot; 180 grain Rainier with 5.0 grains of Longshot for a muzzle velocity of around 875 fps. It shot very mildly out of my Ruger KP944 without having to change any springs.

Are you looking for a SD or practice load?
Are you possibly recoil shy?
Do you shoot it with a good two handed grip, or just enough to not drop the gun?

9MM may be your best bet. The P226 is heavy compared to Glocks, XDs and M&Ps. They heavy weight helps with recoil. But cant get much heavier.

The Fed Reduced Recoil is the only one I have heard of also.
