Is there a "Standard Catalog" for Colt or Ruger?

I've got the SCSW, but I'm also a sucker for any good coffee table book with lots of info and pretty pictures. Since I also have a Colt and a Ruger, I'd like to add to my library if there are some good options out there.

Just to be clear, I'm not expecting the exact same format from the same authors, just something similar.

There's a SC of Colt, but I'm not sure about Ruger. I haven't looked through the Colt book, but I've seen it for sale.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of books on Colts out there but I don't see too many on Rugers.

The current reference book on Rugers is Ruger Pistols and Revolvers by John Dougan. An excellent and specialized Ruger book is The Encyclopedia of Ruger 1949-1992 Semi Automatic Rimfire Pistols by Chad Hiddleson if you like the .22 pistols.
There is a Standard Catalog of Colt by Sapp, but it is not very well regarded.

There is nothing anywhere near as good as the SCSW, but the best there is is pretty good: R.L. Wilson's The Book of Colt Firearms. The original was published back in the '70s but it was republished in 2008. It is pricey but the price is well worth it and through educating the reader can save him or her a lot of money when it comes to collecting.

A beautiful book for the coffee table to boot!

The Book of Colt Firearms 3rd Edition by R.L. Wilson: Blue Book Publications, Inc. 9781886768840 Hardcover - Blue Book Publications, Inc.

Supica seems suitable impressed, which speaks volumes. BTW, that's the 1st book I've ever bought for over $100 that I'm not gonna sell back at the end of the quarter! LOL

Same publisher as SCS&W
STANDARD CATALOG OF® COLT FIREARMS

Sapp, Rick (2007-12-05). Standard Catalog of Colt Firearms (Kindle Locations 30-33). F+W Media, Inc.. Kindle Edition.

wilsons colt book is a known quantity. the sapp book is not highly regarded.

The Sutherland and Wilson book: The Book of Colt Firearms, is the bible for Colt weapons. It doesn't list prices, however. It used to be quite scarce, but has recently been reprinted. It's the last word on Colt firearms.

Ruger and His Guns, by Wilson is also superb, with many color photos and excellent content in general.

The Handgun, by the late Geoffrey Boothroyd. Cheap for the usual modest price, invaluable for content. THE basic guide to all handguns until about 1970.

Colt Firearms, 1836-1940, by Haven & Belden. A must-have for all firearms enthusiasts, esp. anyone at all interested in Colt. And if you are not interested enough in Colt to buy this book, you don't deserve any help on the matter.

Get into Barnes & Noble stores more often and see what's there. They sometimes have excellent sale prices. I honestly wonder if some members of this board ever enter a bookstore...

Amazon.com often has good book prices, too, a lot cheaper than the specialist arms books dealers charge.
