Is This An Old Revolver Bore Brush?

Your expertise sought here...is this the old wound wire bore brush of the kind that came with pre-war Smiths and Colts? It appears to fit snuggly in my .38 caliber revolvers. I found it in my great-grandpappy's tool kit.

That's the basic style. I don't think there is any way to determine if its original or if someone just picked it up at a gun shop over the years. That style has been produced for decades and decades, both in short revolver style and longer rifle length. The advantage is that no one can tell you with any degree of certainty if its right or wrong.
 
Thats the time frame, but they still produce them currently, too. Its just a tried and true style that gets the job done. I have a WWII vintage rifle cleaning rod that's a dead ringer for yours.
