Shown next to a Model 67 for comparison - is this an early sight from S&W (perhaps an early Ladysmith, 22/32 HFT, or something else)? Thanks in advance for any help.

All my J frame target sights have the same non grooved tang edges but what's weird is they all have horizontal grooves behind the rear sight blade where yours has vertical grooves.

"Bet" was too strong a word in my first post,
I'm "thinking" would have been a better choice of words.

Does anyone have a J frame target sight with those same vertical grooves at the rear?

Yes, I do, but I can't give you a picture of it. I believe period of manufacture makes the difference in the direction of the grooving. The gun is a quite early Model 34. It also now has a Model 35 barrel that S&W did for me in 1974.

Here's a few pictures of a model 50

thadheth,
If you want to sell it, let me know. We have a 34 that can use a better rear sight.
