Hey Forum,

After tons of research and reading this forum and Glock forums, I bought a Sigma 9VE Allied Forces (Black slide), over a G19.

Took it out today, for the first time, and got some great results.
I put 100 rounds through the gun. After today's session I stripped it, cleaned it and lubed it. I noticed some wear (see picture).

Is this normal?

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum and "the club"!

Yes, that is perfectly normal! Just make sure to put a drop of oil on it when you clean and lube the gun. Follow the instructions in the book and use just a little lubrication (fig 19 in the manual). Also (just a tip), when you reasseble the slide on to the frame, keep your thumb on the guide rod/recoil spring until the slide is well onto the frame rails.

They should have put a black barrel on that for you, I got weel over a
Grand down mine & no Melenite worn at all. Like others said oil that
point and the front of barrel and a drop on each rail ; )

I have two 9VE's, both have wear marks there. However, your's does appear in the photo be be worn way more than either of mine.

Could this be one for the Sigma FAQ skicky?
1. normal wear on barrel.
2. plastic button on grip/mag well just takes up space.
3. full mags that rattle, Normal. Smacking a mag in the palm of your hand to seat the rounds, so you can load said mag full, normal.

I had also been also wondering the same thing. Similar to KyWstJoe's comment, the wear on mine isn't as significant.

This plastic piece on my Sigma actually fell out during my last range visit. I suppose a bit of glue in there will solve the problem if it happens again. :D

Yes, that's very normal and harmless. I like the square wear on my 1000+ round 40VE. Adds character, I think. Racking a brand new LCP hundreds of times before actually shooting it (this is recommended), I wore some of the blueing off of the top of the barrel at the ejection port before I ever live fired the pistol. No harm, no foul. Guns were meant to be shot and friction happens.

I thought those things about the plastic spacer etc. were already in the sticky on FAQ Sigmas. Also the 'frame crack' back by the rear pin and the top of the barrel wear.
The manual says to lube the barrel at two place, one is where you're seeing your wear mark. As has been said, normal on 40ve and others as well.

Check the underside of the slide that passes over the barrel in that location. Mine had a pretty bad burr from the ejection port being machined. I took a fine file and knocked down the burr in that spot and a couple of others burrs that I found on the barrel.
