REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month.

REMINDER..... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.It is the National DO NOT CALL list It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON. It takes about 20 seconds.

FALSE, PER SNOPES.

A registry between carriers was compiled for a 411 call directory as many people have dumped their Land-Lines (phone book listings).

THE REGISTRY IS FOR LOCATION, NOT FOR TELEMARKETING FIRMS AND AUTO DIALING IS FORBIDDEN.

You can register your number DO NOT CALL if you wish.

This rumor repeats itself EVERY YEAR ACCORDING TO SNOPES.

JcMack,

PLEASE DO NOT DO "BLUE TYPING" it's almost impossible to read in the new dark blue screens,
I had to switch back to the old screen color to be able to read your post.

JcMack,

I use the Dark Blue now, it grows on you, at first this new deal was WAY TOO BOLD and my reaction to it was the same as yours.

This has been around for years, I for one did not reply and have never gotten a marketing call on my cell phone. I have gotten a couple of text messages with stupid riddles, which must be some sort of scam The phone rep said to just text reply 'STOP" and they haven't called back.

You have to pay close attention to your cell phone monthly statements for the unwanted text messages from the marketing companies. We have AT&T for our cell phones, there have been a few $10 charges for certain text messages, just for receiving them from unwanted solicitiors. That how some make their money. So far we have not had to pay the charges if we let AT&T know about it ahead of time. Alot of people will just pay the bottom line on the bill without looking at the individual charges.

You can (could ?) register your number on do not call list online, no need to make a call from your cell. The wording kind of sound like a scam (the sky is falling and some threats "you will be charged") but on the other hand - is it going to be an _additional_ charge or is it going go be a regular call, which is counted towards plans minutes. I've registered all my numbers online long time ago.

I would be very careful about these types of emails.I know several people who have signed up for " do not call lists" that are inundated with text spam. This type of thing is often a phishing expedition.I would add that my cell has been my only phone for several years,I've never signed up for anything and I dont get telemarketers nor spam.Just be very aware of who you give that number to.

Thanks JcMack. I received a call from a telemarketer just yesterday. I answered in the hopes of talking to a human to tell them not to call again, but no such luck. These days it's all machines so you can't tell them to remove you from the list. I always suspect companies that I have applied to for employment of releasing my number. I cancelled all texts. I hate text messages anyway.
