I turned 70 last month. Always wanted a Colt 1911. Have owned other brands. Sig is super nice. Thought about it and sold another 1911 for money. {did not have enough}
So in the meantime bought a Gold Cup Trophy on G.B. Decent price. Has not been to the range yet because picked it up yesterday. Took off the blue grips.
CZ owns Colt now, and doesn't bother me a bit. Bob

Nice looking pistol. Bought my first Colt Government Model in 1974. Have had many over the years. I have an original Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match in the gunbox now. it will go to the range in the morning. Enjoy yours. I will be 72 my next birthday.

A nice looking Colt . I too had wanted a 1911 for some time and finally decided to get one . Although not 70 yrs of age I'm certainly not getting any younger and went ahead and made the purchase . A Colt 01911C in .45 bought about 3 yrs. ago . I paid about $750.00 delivered . I see them now near the $1000.00 mark . Pretty well finished and it shoots quite well .
Hope you enjoy yours !

As a die hard 1911 fan I have/had a number of 1911s since I started buying guns in 1978. Down to one Colt, a factory 5" Gunsite Model. It's very nice though frankly it doesn't hold a candle to my 1995 Les Baer PII

Never was over impressed with Baer's pistols. Could always shoot my Colt Gold Cup National Match better than a Baer.

Happy 70th. I passed that one back last August myself.

I've been trying to beat back the "need" for a gen-U-wine Colt Commander and have been drooling over them at the LGS. The fact that I've got three Tisas "commander" sized guns keeps holding me back though...but darn they're pretty.

Congratulations. You're gonna like that one I'll bet.

Enjoy that Gold Cup

Loved the 1911’s Have owned Springfields, Paras, Kimbers, other Colts. But this first Series 70’ National Match, accurized by the late Forest Davis, then ivory gripped, is the only one left. Second pic is what I call my shootin team…I’ve owned the model 41 since the early 80’s. And it is the only handgun I have ever shot, as accurate as my Gold Cup. Enjoy that 45…you gotta Colt dude.

..my first duty station was Marine Barracks Hawaii [aka Pearl Harbor ] - Guard Duty--we used the 1911A1s, until somewhere around the late 80s.. ...I had never fired firearms before the Corps, but I was one of the better shooters with it -so, I think they must be great.....
...the rifle and pistol range butts were near the beach, so after shooting, we would grab a six pack and drink at the beach

I was the Guard Chief at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Ca. Marine Barracks in the mid 1980's. Had 150 marines that we had to qualify with the M1911A1. Our training allocation of .45 ACP was 65,000 rounds a year. Our range was not to far from our on station beach. No, there was no beer at the beach after shooting, only a cleaning detail.

I have owned 2 colt 1911s - neither of mine could be made reliable (I and a couple of smiths tried). I now own a RUGER SR1911, & an RIA Compact officers model, that are accurate & 100% reliable. I have personally, tailored them to my liking, & am extremely satisfied.
They were within my means, & represent the 1911, among my handguns.

Just turned 69 on the 7th. Already own a SA and a Tisas, but got my RGN for a CMP 1911 yesterday. Hoping for a Colt, but probably a long shot.

Congratulations on a really nice pistol.

I've had several Colt 1911's. Sold a few Gov't models not long ago. I only have two 1911's left. One's a CMP pistol and the other is a Gold Cup Trophy that I purchased new in 2012 for 1000 bucks. I don't shoot the CMP pistol but I had the GCT at the range yesterday.

I've got Sigs and HK's but I shoot the GCT more than any of them. I like it so much that I was thinking yesterday about buying another 1911 target pistol but I'm not sure I could improve on the one I already have to any great degree.

I have about 5 thousand rounds through my GCT and it's always ran with any ammo I build for it. I even ran some ammo through it yesterday that didn't gauge at the base. I had my sizer die set too high and built some out-of-spec ammo, but that GC chugged right through 100 rds without a problem.

I think CZ will enhance the quality of Colt pistols. Prices will probably reflect that also. I see the new GCT is around $1800.
