I went to the range today to test 2 rifles. I had just put scopes on my Rock River M4 carbine and my Ruger Mini 14. I put Nikon 3-30 223 carbine scopes on both. So I am make the final adjustment on the mini 14 and some guy up on the skeet range start blasting birds. I stopped my shooting as I thought that it was unsafe for me to be shooting while he was down range from me. The skeet and the rifle range both face southeast with the skeet being to my left about 50 yards and ten yards in front of me. So what do you think? Was I being safe or overly cautious? I finished my sighting in while he was inside the Skeet house. Then I went over to the pistol range a shoot my single action revolvers, 45 colt Ubieties clone and my Ruger 44Mag Blackhawk. I hope the blast of that Blackhawk got the shot gunner's attention. it was a good day to be at the range it was sunny, the temp was comfortable, I took a light lunch and took my time doing something I enjoy doing.

Why the hate for the guy with the shotgun? He was just there to enjoy shooting, too. If you have sand in your shorts, you should be miffed at the person that designed the range.

Yeah, I'm not sure it was intended by the OP but it seemed he was implying that the shotgunner was some kind of lesser citizen at the range. All shooting sports have equal rights at the range I attend. Perhaps it is only the way he expressed his hope that the blast of the .44 Mag got the shotgunners attention. All of us who shoot anything should hang together or, you know what the saying is..........

YES I was

a bit miffed at the shotgunner. When I get to the range and someone else is shooting I wait till there is a break in his shooting and will talk to him about stuff and work out a way we both can shot and do it safe. I guess I just expected him to show me the same courtesy. thanks for putting me in my place.
