I've been looking for 1066 and found one today at today's gun show . . .

Ever since I picked up a 1006 and 1076, both in 99% condition, about four months ago, I've kept my eyes open for a 1066 in about the same condition to make it a 10mm trifecta.

Earlier today, near the end of the third building at a three-building gun show, I saw a dealer's display with a number of handguns. Hiding in among the other handguns was one (and only one) S&W 3rd generation. It looked pristine, so I bent down to get a better look and what did I see? That's right, a lovely 99%+ 1066 (s/n TEV71xx).

The dealer had it marked at a gun show price of $725. Given the pristine condition, I thought there would be a box and spare magazine hanging around. However, the dealer informed me that there was neither. I guess I must have looked disappointed because the dealer then leans over and says take $200 off the marked price. I had already field stripped and inspected it (a real beauty), so I said, "Well, it is pretty nice, but do you know how much 10mm ammo is? Buying the gun is only half the problem." He then leaned closer and quitely said, "How about $475?" Anyway, I ended up getting it for $525 out the door which means a base price of $464.50.

As soon as I pick it up in 10 days or so, I'll post a photo of my BIG BOYS, 4506-1, 4566, 4576, 1006, 1066 and 1076. You just got to love the big guys . . .

Remind me to never negotiate or play poker with you!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats!! That's a good deal, and a great gun. I've enjoyed the one I have for several years.

Ahhh set completion, I've got the two little ones (76 &77) & have been keeping on out open for the 1006 (but only if I can manage a deal like yours).
