I've got two Peltor Boxes and 1 Speed Beez box loaded up for my 617 and tomorrow's Steel Challenge Match.

I had reloading blocks at the range so I do it at home the day before a match.

Steel Challenge only takes 200 rounds but required 39 reload. I have 17 DS-10 Speed Loaders so I need pre loaded loading blocks to finish the match. The boxes give me some extra loaders if I ever need a reload. It hasn't happened yet when shooting my revolver but it's good to be prepared.

I also keep extra ammo for the guys that want to try my gun at the end of the match. I've convinced more than one skeptic to shoot a revolver after testing my 617.

I just bought a brand new 617-6. I like those grips. What are they called and we’re can I buy them ? Thanks. MD

Those are Altamont grips for the K/L frame round but. I really like them. They fit my hands better than the Hogue's I've been using.

Nothing wrong with Hogues, I've used them for over 30 years but now my form has changed and so did the way I grip my gun.

Congrats- nice looking set up.

As I previously reported in this forum, I’ve shot my 4” 617 in our local ASI matches and throughly enjoy it. Superbly accurate, smooth DA trigger.

My 617 is one of my favorite guns.

What is an ASI match?

ASI = Action Shooting International.

I consider it a entry level / gateway to action pistol shooting sports like IDPA/ uspsa.

https://asi-usa.org/

Rules are simple, allows virtually any pistol/ pistol caliber, no need for a lot of “kit” - just a gun, 1 mag or reloader, gun case. Don’t need a holster, shooter starts at low ready or with gun on a table.

What I like most is I am able to shoot with my wife who can no longer tolerate a holstered gun on her belt due to previous surgeries. And she can shoot my Ruger MK II.

Many of my IDPA friends also shoot ASI - mostly for more trigger time, but also to shoot the guns outside the IDPA divisions- like 22s.

Thanks for explaining that Tanners Owner. It's good to see there is a format that you and your wife can enjoy.

Good luck and good shooting

Steven
