I was considering the purchase of a J Frame .22LR probably the model 43C and wonder what you all think about it? I have the 340PD and am particularly wondering if you think this is a good target and training gun for making the most of your 340PD when shooting .38/.357? Any opinions, range reports and experience from anyone, particularly if you have both models would be appreciated.

I have one I picked up a few months ago (with the aluminum cylinder) that was made in 1958. A good gun, somewhat sensitive to ammo fouling, once it gets dirty rounds get harder to chamber and the misfire rate goes up, which I'd think is normal for any well-made 22 revolver with tight tolerances. It's light as a feather and I think I paid a little under $500 for it. It has earned a place in the stable.

Nice 22 you picked up and I agree with your statement, them thar 22s have to be kept really clean.

I have the 317 and it makes a great training weapon for the first time shooter, especially those interested in shooting a J Frame.
