Jack Elam on Letterman

That was an excellent clip. Thanks for posting it as I had never seen it before.

I am a Jack Elam fan. He was a remarkable actor with almost 100 motion pictures to his credit, 57 of which are reported to have been westerns. While he is most often remembered today as portraying "bad guys" Elam was versatile enough to have been successful in a number of comedic roles. He had a memorable face with that lazy eye (the product of a boyhood accident) which gave him a built-in authenticity. He died in 2003.

I believe that clip that Rusty posted is from the movie Smokey and the Bandit. Maybe I or maybe II but anyway he was a vet or a doctor of some kind with some mental issues and in one seen he snapped on his rubber gloves and extended a middle finger and told Lonnie Anderson (I think it was) that it was time for her examination. I can't describe the expression on her face at the end of that scene.

But you like Taylor Swift. Your point?
That's like me saying I've seen better legs on a wood stork.

Useless post.

I didn't compare Taylor to Elam; you did. YOUR point?

If you appoint yourself to complain about every "useless" post on this board, you'll be a busy man.

I like some celebs, not others. If you have other preferences, that's your option. But why jab at me for my preferences? Just express your own. But comparing a hot, very talented, intelligent female singer/composer who behaves far better in her private life than do many in the music business to an old character actor baffles me. Taylor Swift has nothing to do with this thread. Or, didn't until now...

"useless post" was the qualifier of my own post.
You've mentioned Ms. Swift in a number of nicely worded posts in unrelated threads yet no one ever felt a need to denigrate the lady yet you pop in with the "I detest..." comment on a thread about a well regarded, hard working character actor.

I was in a mood and called you out.
Just don't understand the rationale but you know what they say about opinions.
Wish you good day and for what it's worth I enjoy your posts, especially when you are seeking additional info on a particular subject.

True or not , I have read that Jack Elam was an accountant , worked for the movie people and that's how he got his start . My favorite Jack Elam movie was with John Wayne and Robert Mitchum in " El Dorado " .

Cord McNally: "Where's the other gate guard?"

"He's at another gate lookin' for St. Peter." That's a great line that cracks me up every time.:D

Not Jack Elam, yer probably thinking of Arthur Hunnicut. Hunnicut played the part of "Bull" the bugle player. One of many great lines in the movie-by Bull: "A woman, a dog and a Willow tree, the more you beat 'em the better they be."
