ABS light is typically from a non-functioning sensor. Without the ABS system, braking will be as prior to when ABS systems became standard on cars. Only concern would be braking in snow or rain.

A scanner will tell which wheel it is on. Likely on the front as 70% stopping is in the front. Worn pads can turn the light on. Replace the sensor when replacing the pads is a good idea. You can pull a wheel and see how thick the pads are. Inexpensive fix unless someone rips you off. It could be a broken wire. If the rotors are bad get new ones. Don't bother with turning them if you are planning on keeping.

thanks ....

drove the jeep today . about 2 blocks from home the light went off. continued driving for about 10 minutes and it never came back on .

Bleed the system-If it sits a month at a time air & moisture will set in. If it gets low on fluid same thing.

My 2000 jeep wrangler kept wiping out the passenger side front sensor (2X).
Ended up being a cracked reluctant ring, rust builds up under them and swells
them up. Had to replace the axle shafts to repair.
