Pro-control keeps trying to stir the pot with articles like this one. The hope is that drip fed mis-information will tip the scale on the next go-round. The BC bill will continue to be contaminated and cross bred with what are perceived to be acceptable or sympathetic bridges to passage. Other recent polls are showing the core "libertarian" (a.k.a. "live and let live" or the "Golden Rule"..) beliefs of most Americans makes them resistance to telling others what they can and cannot do. We just have to stay vigilant and informed on all relevant legislation.

All he has to do is look up the facts of "fast & furious".
Check & see which gov. agency abused their power.
Now ask yourself, "Do I or any other reasonable citizen really want to give them MORE power?"
Just another law won't do squat for crime, only control honest citizens while increasing an already bloated & wasteful bureaucracy.
First, fully fund mental health treatment, gov. ignoring it won't make the problem go away!
Second, clean house 'till you have a DOJ that will enforce the existing laws we already have.
I'll bet he will find out that we already have the 'law' part covered.

I've been saying every since the bill went down that it was to early to think it was over. There were a bunch of poster's saying we had won and in reality, that was just a battle or skirmish and we need to be prepared for a long drawn out war.
Also remember "IF" any bill passes the Senate and is taken up by the House and they add or change the Senate bill and pass it, it then goes to conference, and "ALL" bets are off. We'll end up with a bill with amendments that we'll all be dreading.

I was just reading that McCain & Schumer are saying that NEW Gun Control bill will be introduced before end of the year. To any poster that talks about voting any Senator out, the earliest that can happen is NOV. 2014. Between now and then, all kind of xxxx can be introduced and passed.

I have seen the pros and cons of gun control bills the past 40years and the only part I believe in is the SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED part of the 2nd amendment. really,I believe in it all. The politicians say they can not be recalled. Want to make a bet????? Treason against the constitution.

I believe that certain video games and movies should undergo close scrutiny for their role in glorifying a culture of violence among our young people. I also believe that we need to review the way we identify and treat those with mental illness. Mental illness has been a common denominator in a number of recent mass killings, and government has a role to play in making sure that treatment is available and accessible before a violent act occurs. It is also important that we keep guns out of the hands of convicted criminals and those with certain mental illnesses that make them susceptible to engaging in acts of violence. I support the current background check system as well as efforts to better its effectiveness. However, there is a lack of enforcement of the current laws and if we prosecuted those who lie on their forms, there would be a real deterrent to those who would lie to obtain a weapon. Until we actually prosecute those who violate existing gun laws, layering additional checks on law abiding citizens will not have the desired effect of preventing crime. It is important to know where the current structure falls short and analyze the best ways to address these weaknesses in the system without infringing upon the rights of American citizens.
The use of firearms for sport is part of a heritage that has been passed down through generations of many West Virginia families and I support the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I dont know how this manchin guy even got elected. He is anti-coal in a state where 90% of the economy is coal.
He got elected because he LIED. Ran adds proclaiming his love of firearms, even had one firing a shot from a rifle at some odious bill or target on a tree as I remember. The good people of W. Virginia need to kick him right in the Willie and out of office at the first opportunity. Same for Toomey. These hacks trample our rights and they need to go.

Members of both House and Senate voted in a clause that they could not be recalled. Many decades ago. But,if they are charged with treason to the constitution,that's a different story that they can be impeached by voters and replaced by the governor of their state for a election to be held at a later time.

It's hard for me to give an opinion on Sen Manchin, considering the two clowns we have up here in Mass..... Senators Warren and soon to be Markey............oh we also gave you, John Kerry...No need to thank me.
