My copy just showed-up today. I'm about to go crack it open.

Good God. I have to have that book. Old 44 Guy is my moniker. Suits me fine.

There's also his book of the .45 that came out a few years ago.

I try to stay-up of these firearm books. Sometimes they go out of print & prices go through the roof. I recently went looking for Askins "Unrepentant Sinner". It's now going for at least $170. And try finding Clawsons' book on the 1911 at a reasonable price. Good grief!

I just got a copy of this great (and BIG!) book. My friend, Jim Martin sent me a copy. He's a master mechanic of Colt SAA and gripmaker starting in the 1950s. One of the last chapters are his Colt SAAs wearing grips he made. Some from whale bone which I never heard of before. There's massive coverage of S&Ws in it and great photography.

While I focused on The Colt SAA .44s in my previous post, the book is jam packed with info and great photos of S&Ws. I'm on the Triple Lock chapter now. The very last chapter is the entire old ".44 Associates" compilation of loading data from so many of the early .44 hot loading experimenters prior to the .44 Magnum being introduced.

Just wait until the book on the .50 cal Browning comes out.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I cannot wait to read this book. John Taffin is one of the best gun writers out there. Not only is he one of the few writers carrying on the tradition of Jordan, Keith, and Skelton; he writes with a literary technique not found with many other gun writers. Besides the technical data he provides, he really knows how to stir the soul when it comes to gun collecting and shooting.
