I'm seriously considering the JP captured spring buffer for my M&P and my current build project. My biggest gripe with the AR platform has been the annoying sound of the buffer spring rattling around in the tube after each shot. As a result, the JP approach is very interesting to me, but would like to hear about the actual user experience from anyone on the forum that has installed this system into their M&P/AR platform. I know that JP Enterprises has a solid reputation for high quality products, but hesitate to shell out for something that people have had issues with in actual use.

Thoughts? Comments?

JP - Buffer Springs and Silent Captured Springs

I have never used the product,
I just put a light coat of general purpose grease on the spring, and the "sproing" goes away

I installed a David Tubb spring six months ago and highly recommend it-made from flat spring not rot round-never jammed and all of my brass lands in one spot.

The Tubbs Spring and a Spikes ST-T2 Buffer and the noise is history. That said though I appreciate the quiet sound and even less recoil I kind of miss the SPROING.

JP Ent. Captured Spring Buffer

I installed one when I switched to the PRS Stock. No problems cycling in a rifle length tube using the included spacer. Provides a much quieter ride with your ear planted against the stock, also a lot smoother when charging. I wouldn't consider it a "Must Have", more like a "Nice to Have".

When you ordered your JP Captured Spring, did you go with the "standard" or "heavy" version?

When I ordered mine a few years back, there wasn't an option for a "HEAVY" or "STANDARD" version. Only options were three different spring tension weights... I purchased all three springs and settled with the "MID-WEIGHT" of the three... Sorry I don't feel like pulling out the spec info to post... But if you really need it I'll dig in my boxes and post back....
