am still full of bar b q and will eat something different for the next few days !

ok.... here is my own 02 and fairly short review and personal opinion on what we took in. that is my girlfriend and i.

the food : first night we ate at leonards . best q that i had while there. buffet was super and for only $12.50 ! great pulled pork and baked beans. also enjoyed the peach cobbler .

nealy's.. good but in my opinion leonards had them beat. leonards sauce was better and peach cobbler was better. girlfriend liked nealys better but i still say leonards.

graceland..wonderful tour and we enjoyed seeing all the elvis collection and memories. we took the mid - priced tour , was over two hours and well worth it. he was one of a kind and that era of music/time will never be duplicated again.

sun studio ... great low-budget tour and lots of music history of johnny cash , carl perkins , elvis , jerry lee and scores of others. i would recommend it to anyone going there.

beal st. .... not bad but not great. lots of gift shops and eateries .
bb kings on beal... stopped on for a drink and the young bar tender there made me what to leave asap. i believe he had seen the movie " cocktail " too many times !
while at leonards we did order a half slab of ribs just to sample them. also ordered a half slab at bb's and believe it or not we preferred the ones at bb's. but when asked how they were cooked the bar tender said he had no idea. i believe they just might be grilled cause they had sort of a crispy edge on them, but they WERE excellent .

river cruise .... we missed the time for the evening cruise but manged to get a day one . very nice and good history info by the cruise guide about the river and city.

and .... we did manage to hit a shooting range by the name of range master near mt moriah. short but good time . range fee was $25.

my gal hit the casino at harrah's and she liked that also.

we got lots of mis-information on directions by people in the area and seems as tho a lot of local residents no very little about the bar b q joints and the town. just our observed opinion .

i locked my carry gun in the car when entering graceland. didnt see any signs that it was a no gun zone as someone reported on this forum.
i carried on beal st. and did NOT get checked as someone also said would happen .
memphis didnt seem any more dangerous than indianapolis, st loius or most other big cities.
but we did do most of our site seeing in the daylight hours and maybe that helped a bit.

had read a lot a here on this forum on memphis and wanted to give my personal view for some one else to possibly get some good out of, that might trip there.

We love Memphis, and TOTALLY agree with you about Leonard's! It may have been me that posted in an earlier thread about eating there. Try the Blues City Cafe on Beale the next time you're there. Excellent ribs and cold beer to boot! Glad you didn't get checked on Beale; haven't been to Memphis in over a year, but they've just started that crap since then. We don't feel that it's any more dangerous there than anywhere else. Mean folks everywhere these days; you just have to be careful anywhere and anytime.

i too love memphis ...have been going for years...graceland is awesome!try the pig on beale...great bbq there
