I by some miracle found a one owner 4506 that has never been fired. Bought in 1989. I gave the guy 600. I've been wanting this gun since The Shield! Right now I'm looking for reasonably priced mags. I've already posted in the wanted forum here. What's the deal with the different colored followers? Mine are orange, but i'm i'm seeing black and yellow ones too. Any suggestions on a nice leather outside the waist band holster? I'm also looking for a good leather shoulder rig. Thanks for any input!!

Excellent gun, good price, look at gunfightersinc I have several of their holsters including my 4506.
Black is the current version. Midway has them in-stock at this time.

They no longer carry the magazines though.

If you are going to carry it for serious purpose, go with the mags with the black followers.
I use the orange and the yellow follower mags at the range. They function fine too. But when I carry my 4506-1 for serious I only use the last revision black follower mags.
Enjoy that fine Vic Mackey approved 45.

So you're suggesting changing the orange followers to the black in my factory mags? What about the springs? They've never had a bullet in them so unless the design of the springs have also been changed I'll keep them.

So question. Are you suggesting i should use my current mags and just change the followers to the black ones? And further, are the aftermarket black carbon steel mags any good. I think mec gar makes some. As far as factory smith mags i haven't found any good deals on them online.

Here are parts. Bodies & catch plates are the hardest to find. You can get springs from Wolff. You can find parts on Ebay sometimes.

That's what I was thinking but I will upgrade to the black followers.
Sorry I wasnt clear! What I meant was pick up a couple of new mags (Ebay, Gunbroker, ect) if you intend to carry the 4506 and use the mags you have as range mags.
For holsters, the same places - Ebay ect are your best bet unless you go the custom route.
For custom holsters for my 4506 I have used MTR Leather and Alphonsos of Hollywood. IIRC Aker holsters still makes 4506 holsters too. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

I bought a 4506 new in 1993 while living in Monroe, LA. Never fired it and sold it when I moved from Nashville to Chicago. Wish I still had it, even though I never shot it. Just like the look and feel. They seem to be pretty hard to find right now.
