Well, I had been looking and now found a like new SW model 940. I had my first range session today and I have to say, the recoil is everything I had heard. The gun is fun to shoot and I do not regret getting the weapon. It is likely to become a favorite carry pistol to and from work or the local stop and rob.

Congratulations on the great find.
I have and carry almost daily a 940. It seems to be intermediate between the 38 Special and the 357 magnum.
By the way, I carry it loaded with a full moon clip and carry 5 spares in a speed strip. Works well, but of course, you have to get the last five empty cases out with a stick. Obviously I plan on solving the problem with 10 shots or less.
I love the gun.

YAY more 940s!!!
They are a really neat little J frame! I have one that I carry from time to time, They are just a really cool little one, I thought that mine was a pussycat to shoot! I am used to airweight and airlight J frames, So the 9mm round seems really tame to me!!! Enjoy it and know that you have something a little different and not many others have them!
Now go buy about 20 moon clips and load them up!!!!
And buy a moon clip removing tool as well, I have the screw driver like one which works great for the 45 acp as well as the 9mm!!!
ENjoy!
Here's mine
