...Melonite finished Colorado State Police pistol from Bud's Gun Shop. I have a 5906, and have been looking for an example of a 4006 for some time. Even with the flood of 4006's on the market, I never took the plunge because I'm not the biggest fan of the .40 cartridge. So, I was sorta waiting for something a little "different". Well, this caught my eye and I couldn't help myself!

How is the recoil on the 4006 series? Softer, than say, my P226 .40? Can't wait! I love the Smith third gen pistols, built like tanks!

Thanks!

That seems like a pretty good buy.
On the Melonite finish, just what exactly is that.
I have a CS40 and the finish looks similar to it.

I have a CSPD 5906. Mine does not have the nifty CSPD insignia engraved on it though.

Let us know when you get this pistol, I am also considering this. She is a good looking 4006.
the safety looks like decock only, that would make it even sweeter. Let us know what kind of shape it is in. And of course PICTURES.

I have a CHP 4006, in excellent condition, with the best "double action" part of the traditional DA, that I have seen. I don't know if this is normal, or is it an action job? I too have not been a fan of the 40 S&W round, but the two models of S&W pistols in 40 has change that, both are like shooting someone elses 9mm. My 4006 has the decocker, which I really like. I want a S&W in 9mm [third gen] with a decocker now. Are they availible without sending it to S&W for the change? Or maybe order the parts and convert it myself! I am a careful "tinkerer" Any comments

Very nice. Looking for an older CHP 4006 (non-TSW) myself.

I love the 3rd gens , was trying to find a good 4006 and ended up with a 4026 instead . Surprising enough the grip config actually feels alot like my M&P40 and is more accurate than my M&P . I believe its the all metal construction helps dampen the recoil .

The 4006 shoots great. The recoil is about the same as the 9mm 3rd gens. My 4006 is accurate, at least when I am anyway, reliable and just a great shooter.
