I just ordered new buffer and spring for my Sport. It was between the H2 and the Spikes ST-T2 all things being equal the Spikes looks cooler and it's quieter. I also ordered a Sprinco blue spring. My sport was throwing the brass at about the 4:00 position and chucking it a good 10 yards. I've heard that the M&P's are over gassed I'm hoping this tames it a bit. Range report to follow this weekend

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it after you have a chance to shoot it with the T2 buffer.

I use a Sprinco blue/H2/M16 BCG combo in my M&P. I don't know where the brass would land because the range I use has a screen beteen firing positions so brass doesn't hit the guy next to you.

What is the advantage of the M16 BCG other than its heavier?

I have been watching one on ebay that 3.5oz. Please let me know, most of my brass hits the deflector and flies out quite a ways.

you would think because it is heavier it would require a heavier buffer also. The heavier BCG IMHO would slam back the stock buffer harder. I have also been looking at one with a hydraulic plunger that is supposed to give the fastest follow up shots, I dont remember the name but I will look it up.

My brass ejects at 4 o clock as well. I'd get a heavier buffer but I'm running a rifle buffer and spring (due to using an m16a1 stock) Not sure what else I could do aside from an M-16 Bolt carrier to add a little weight

The heavier your moving parts are, the slower the cyclic due to Newtons Second law of motion. So if you put a heavier bcg and buffer, it takes more energy from a fired round to move them at the same speed.

So as a result the bcg doesn't slam back as hard. Downside is more weight means slower cycle time and possibility of not moving back far enough to reset trigger and pick up next round.

Ideally, you want the heaviest buffer that will reliably cycle underpowered ammo on a dirty rifle. If you use the FA bolt carrier, you might instead use an h1 buffer rather than use an h2 buffer with a semi bolt carrier.

Thanks Mustang, I know when I try to apply my logic (and it falls short) I can trust someone to explain what is right. Thanks (no kidding)

It still gets confusing some times when trying to find the right balance. There is no clear cut "use this" answer that works for everyone

Rooks tactical just cancelled my order the spikes buffer is back ordered. I checked with spikes directly and they are back ordered as well. Does anyone know of a supplier who has them in stock?

That's the advantage. It helps dampen the recoil pulse (along with the heavier spring and buffer). This in turn helps to keep the muzzle pointed at the target for faster follow-up shots.

I noticed that my shell deflector has a little nick from shooting this weekend. My brass was throwing at about 4 o'clock as well. So, changing the buffer is the answer?

Just got an email from Spikes they have a few but phone orders only when their shipment comes in they will be available on line again

They are kinda like that at time with many items, I guess it is so they know if they sell an item, they actually have them to sell, which is a good thing if they don't have a good inventory tracker for their online software.
