Another congrats here. Did yours come with the flash hider?

if you live in NY can you still order a 25 round magazine online and have it shipped to your house??

WoW

What an awesome blast to shoot, wicked accurate out of the box. Eats mini mags like nobody's business. Outstanding value for the dough:cool:

Horrible performance

Unfortunately I had the opposite experience at the range today, the first time shooting this gun that I bought yesterday. My first shot was a bullseye at 20 yards, it all went downhill from there.

This is an email I sent to S&W before finding this site:
**********************************************

I bought an MP15-22 .22cal rifle yesterday as a first gun purchase. I was happy to take it to the range today with a variety of .22 ammo from different companies. TO my COMPLETE disappointment, the gun jammed every other shot on most occasions, once in a great while I was actually able to shoot two consecutive bullets before it failed to load.

Each time it failed, the bullet did not get chambered and it was bent or the spent casing would get stuck and not ejected properly thus jamming the next bullet. I would have to put it on safety and eject the bent bullet or spent casing manually. This happened almost every other shot!

The ammo I shot:

1) Winchester Wildcat 22 High Velocity
2) CCI Mini-Mag 22LR 40 grain, Target/Plinking ammo
3) Winchester Super X 22LR plated round nose, 40 grain high velocity
4) Peter's 22LR, High velocity, Solid point
5) Remington 22 Thunderbolt, Round nose

Again, I am thoroughly and utterly disappointed in this rifle. I understand a certain type of ammo may or may not work well with a specific gun, which is why I went to the range with 5 varities of ammo to see what worked best. To my displeasure, NONE worked so I have to assume the gun or magainze is simply poorly built.

Please contact me in order to remedy this failure.

When I took mine to the range and started shooting, a bunch of guys came to watch. They thought it was an AR with a silencer. Shoots great, right out of the box.

Sounds like you need to do the 15 second ejector fix. And be sure you are loading the magazines per S&W manual.

Do those two things and try one more time. Also make sure the extractor is still attached to the bolt.

Beck, what is the 15 minute ejector fix? I just got the gun, just basically a total newb but I did research this gun, the SIG 522, and the Colt M4 and felt based on the reviews and message boards that the MP15-22 was the way to go...

I just wish I could have started in the sport with an easy shooter like everyone seems to have gotten.

Ah, found it in another thread and youtube... My ejector was pretty flat so I bent in inwards so it has an angle to it now. I'll try to fire my 15-22 in the next day or so and see if it fixes the issue.

Dbunye: Same thing happened to me right out of the box. I was bummed, but I was lucky enough to find this sight as soon as I got home. Did the quick fix, went back to the range and put 500 rounds through it with no problems. I have a total of about 1000 rounds through it and I couldn't be happier. This is easily the best semi auto .22 on the market since everyone rushed to make one. Had the GSG, shot the Colt, soooo glad I ended up with the M&P.

Also, do some research on this site with loading the mag, just knowing how the rounds should be loaded made a huge diff.

Glad you found the info. Looking forward to a positive range report on your second time out.

Took mine out for the first time yesterday. Cold, so didn't stay long. 100 rounds downrange without a hiccup. Winchester and Federal bulk from WalMart. Probably the most fun I've ever had with a .22.

Beck, I am quite happy to report that my rifle was able to fire a full clip today as fast as I could pull the trigger!!! I only had time for one clip since the range was closing, but considering I was having a 50% failure rate with every type of ammo, I am ecstatic that it appears to be fixed now.

Thanks for the tip on the ejector. A simple fix made me love this gun, and I haven't even had a full session yet! It is accurate when it fires, so I am looking forward to getting my red dot on and zeroing it in.

Good news. Glad the minor tweak got you going in the right direction. Might be a good idea to stay away from Remington Golden Bullets if you have them, even if your gun is shooting okay.
