K-22 info needed

I have a 5 screw K-22 with the serial number 6555** and I'm interested in the year of manufacture and any other interesting information someone might have. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum.
The Catalog says # 632,132 was from 1931 and # 682,419 was from 1940. That's as close as we can tell.

Thanks Jim. Am I to believe the factory just didn't keep accurate annual serial number lists? I have a Winchester Model 21 from 1934 and it would be neat to find out the K-22 was produced in the same year.

The Catalog is pretty vague on certain guns. The factory can give you an exact ship date if you buy a factory letter. Think it costs 50 bucks. Somebody on here can point you in the right direction on how to order one.

A small database I was keeping a number of years ago shows 654,9xx as shipping in 12/35 and 657,7xx as shipping in 9/36.

I checked three others in the 655xxx range that shipped early to mid 1936. I stand corrected.

I'd also say 1936, with some possibility of 1937. Accurate dating from the SN alone during this time period is difficult, as SNs do not track well regarding shipping dates. Sales were very slow during the Depression, and finished guns could remain in factory inventory for years prior to shipping.
