I recently saw a nice model 16-3 for $2500.
I already have one so I passed.
Of the model marked, the 16-3 will be the most common with the 16-1 being cataloged but never seen a real example. 16-2's are scarce as are 16 no dash.
Pre 16's most likely what you'll encounter and will be well above $2,000 for a nice one.
Good luck. Be patient, they are out there.
You may want to run an add on this forum as it would be the best source for an honest deal.
They're beauts but far from inexpensive! If the no dash had a box I'd be awfully tempted[ this out of the Orr collection which David is selling]!
I've inquired about the twp pre-16s he's selling[in his modern catalog side] but no price listed.
There are two recent sales on one of the major gun auction sites - $5130 (very nice, box and some tools), $2975 (nice but no box/contents), and one in about the same condition currently at $3500 with no bidders.
I've been looking for a long time and am yet to see one for sale that I could put my hands on. Closest I've come is a 16-4 at a gun show in Fort Worth last year which I bought ($850).
Three or so years ago, I purchased from "Locust Fork" on a major auction site, a 95+% model 16 (no dash), 4 screw, with unumbered magnas, and a gold box, correct, but also unumbered for just south of $2500.00..
Hope this helps in your Quest.. They have really gotten pricey..
