I picked up a 1954 pre model 14 .
This is a birthday year gun for me ,so yes I am a old fart.
This gun has been tampered with so I am not worried
About collector value.
I want to put stock hammer back in it.
I have stock hammer but am missing-
Hammer stirup
Hammer stirup pin
DA sear
DA sear pin
DA sear spring.
Should I look for these parts separate or just look
For a hammer that still has them attached?
Will any center fire K frame hammer with firing pin on hammer
Work in a 1954 gun or has there been changes?
Thanks in advance

In 1988 they went to a shorter hammer nose. There were 2 kinds of stirrup, one straight and one curved, either kind will work. I think the other parts are the same, but it would be good if armorer951 will chime in. He is probably more in tune with the older models. Congrats on the birthday gun!

What hammer is in the gun now? If it is an original S&W hammer all those parts can be switched over to the new hammer. (Not real easily but they can be switched). Even if it was an after market hammer the parts still may work in your new hammer.
Just a thought;
Mike

Thanks Mike it has a target hammer that
Has been heated and bent down a little .
I would like to leave it set up to use.

If it's a pre-80 vintage hammer all the parts can be moved to the hammer you have on hand. If you install a brand new sear, it will need to be fit to the action to work properly.

There may be a complete 'vintage' K frame hammer for sale here on the forum.

I have some OEM old stock parts if you can't find something, let me know.
