My brother for Christmas gave me a set of Nill grips for my 625 which are round butt. they feel fantastic and workmanship is exquisite....

So, other than feel and fit what makes them so expensive?

Nill buys select wood and their fit and finish is excellent. Their quality control will ensure a great product and finally, cost of manufacturing in Germany with their wages and social benefits are higher than in the U.S.
Still Germany manages to be a manufacturing country with a pretty balanced import and export trade.

I find products made in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, or the Netherlands generally to be very satisfying.

IMO, they make a very functional designs for your shooting needs for pistol
and revolver. Their fit is tight to the frame and not overly aggressive to the hand.
These grips are quality and I highly recommend.

I will attest to the fit. and finish.......here is a picture of mine on my 66.

One comment about Nill grips[I have NO financial interest] is that they will discontinue some models probably to shift their manufacturing to the higher volume versions. The gist of this is that IF you like a set don't dwell on it - they do disappear.
Also, be prepared to wait - they don't appear to keep much inventory. :)

To this comment - here is a set of 'cokes' they made awhile back and then dropped.

I like 'em. I bought a pair because of their reputation and because, being secondhand, the price was reasonable and especially because I could see the figure was pretty enough for my taste. Like all makers, some are very pretty, others look they were molded from frozen peanut butter.
I assume you installed them yourself ... be very careful and know what you're in for before you attempt to remove them the first time. I remove all grips the same way; with a hammer and my fingertips. I make sure there isn't a prying tool anywhere within reach.

The wood to metal fit is excellent and the original finish was acceptable.
However, through no fault of their own, the wood to (my) hand fit was no better than anyone else's. So, a little reshaping and a new finish and my Nills are on one of my two DA speed-shooters ...

They do come off best with a plastic hammer or a wooden handle or dowel and much the same way as the side plate is taken off. The fit is often so tight that you may feel the screw is not necessary:).

While I admire the craftsmanship, the finger groove revolver grips just do not fit me well.

Though I am Extremely fond of Nills grips on auto loaders, especially my SIGs.

Well Nills does do the Factory logoed SIG grips :)

Another issue that affects cost that most folks do not realize is that many of today's wood grips are made from laminated, epoxy infused and dyed woods. Today's production wood grips are not a true hardwood any longer.

Nills' grips are all natural hardwoods

Nill's = Very very nice & well made grips :) !

This is true. I tried ordering a set of the grips pictured on the M60 below, but was told they where out of stock, as well as not likely to be produced again.
They could sell me a version without finger grooves though...

I was eventually lucky enough to find a set of the grips I wanted at one of my LGS's.

(The PPK grips are not Nill, btw.)
