Merry Christmas.
My visiting cousin received a Kel-Tec SU-16 5.56mm Rifle for Christmas.
After UN-wrapping it he installed a "Red Dot" sight on it.
I was surprised at how light and compact this weapon is.
Anyone have any experience with this weapon ?

P.S. I received my regular Christmas gift of a lump of coal (thanks again Santa)

Where are the photos? The web sight lists 5 models of SU-16. I thought certain of these model would make a good truck gun. After seeing your cousin's dose this look practical? Ivan

Good Morning, Ivan::
My cousin is going to use his also as a "Vehicle Weapon". With the stock folded, a 30 round magazine can still be kept in the weapon, as the stock has a slot engineered in the stock for the magazine to extend though.
I am very impressed with this rifle.

A buddy of mine has one and it seems to be a good little rifle for the cost. Very few malfunctions and seems to be fairly accurate.

By the way, Jimmy, I've accumulated enough coal over the years to fire all the furnaces in a steel mill for a year.:rolleyes:

I have not used one, but the popular points are:

1) Very reliable. The operating system is similar to a Beretta AR70, i.e., simple.

2) Accurate; certainly see less complaints about that parameter than you do for the Mini-14.

3) Lightweight.

4) Takes AR15 mags. Big plus.

The not so good points:

1) Triggers vary a bit. Some are OK, others not so much.

2) If you are foolish and take one apart further than is needed for basic maintenance, your are in for some fun times getting it back together. Pretty much all Kel-Tec rifles fall into that category.
