Kenai Chest Holster ??s

I want a chest holster for walking and bicycle riding.

The Kenai model looks to be comfortable. Just thinking about it, it seems that leather may be too stiff and bulky.
When I bike I carry pepper spray but having an option is nice.
A J frame is the intended carry.

Is the Kenai comfortable? Does it bounce?
If you have biked with one, do you like it?
I ask for your input.

IMHO the chest is an ideal location for even beat coppers, nad I always imagined them being attached to a mesh tactical vest vs being worn on the gunbelt. The stiff, wide Sam Brownes can and do cause pressure on a major nerve that passes through the pelvis. To solve this Safariland talked all major departments, even here, into suspending their bulky holsters on the thigh, something holster makers knew better than to do for a hundred years. There would be competition for the space on the chest from LEO body cameras but it's all solvable by placement.

Point is, the subject holster appears to position the pistol ideally. The holster itself I've not ever examined and won't comment on. But I like where the muzzle is pointed, and that it's not a giant kleenex box of plastic flopping around on the thigh (these are used even here, officers must hate them but the locals are prickly about their guns and so I don't chat them up).

Thank you Red. I agree about the location for so many activities.

Many claim the Kenai is a good one.
A possible issue (in my opinion) is that it handgun is visible.
But if you buy a chest or thigh holster...that better not be a surprise to you.

I have A Kenai rig and holsters for different guns for it.
Like everything else I have from GunfightersINC it is high quality with a price to match.
Study images of the Kenai rig vs its competitors', they don't cut corners.

I have a Kenai Chest Holster and have used it for hiking with a 5" Model 29 and Glock 40 (10 mm).

You might also try a chest pack from Hill People Gear.

Their price sure seemed high...at first. Then I looked around and found nothing that I liked more. A couple that would probably work were within $30 or so in cost.

Of all the chest holsters that are currently being made, they seem the best for my purpose. I will look at Hill People Gear. Thank you for the suggestion.

I had to call my SIL for this. He likes his Alaska hunters chest rig from MTR Custom Leather for several reasons. First, the holster rides lower than his previous chest rig; and second, it is anchored to the belt.

He also said he likes the fact that he can use different holsters for his revolvers or pistols.

When he goes fishing or hunting in Alaska, he carries a 454 or 10mm for the hungry bruins protection.

I like the MTR rig. IMO it rides too low for biking though.
When I used to mountain bike I used a fanny pack holster after a 30' encounter with an adult cougar.

I just looked at the MTR. It is low riding.
A fanny pack or a chest pack such as Hill People sure seems doable.

I may have given the impression I have experience with the MTR holster.
That is not the case. It looks like a well thought out rig which is what I should have said.

I have two Kenai chest rigs. One for N frames and one for 1911's. They are comfortable, weather proof and the adjustable harness provides ample room for speed loader or magazine pouches.

I wear mine when I am deer or turkey hunting. they are great for just walking through the woods. In the deer stand, blind or shooting house the handgun is out of the way of side rails and chair arms.

I am also a biker and while I don't wear mine when biking, I could. You can adjust the straps/harness to prevent any movement. With a J frame you shouldn't notice any movement. If you have a K frame, consider getting a Kenai for that frame and carry a 2, 3, or 4". You may find it more versatile.

I have not read any negative reports about the Kenai.
EXCEPT that they are expensive. But what isn't!
Pay once cry once if you buy right! Pay once cry forever if you buy wrong.

Did you get a fun color? I go with a crazy digital camo pattern, Spectre13, that fools the eye.
I dropped a holster with that pattern in my holster tub and it became unrecognizable. Weird stuff.

That is a nice set up. Thank yu for the suggestion. I wanted a rig for use while bicycle riding and felt the best for me would be nylon straps instead of leather.

I did buy the Kenai Chest holster and found it absolutely perfect for mountain biking. I ride rough dirt back roads and it is extremely stable. I forget I have it on. When I wear a black tee shirt, you would have to stare at me to really see it as I ride by. When I think I may be in an area with other people.....mostly I ride in isolated back roads where I can go for 2 hours and never see anyone else..... I wear a sleeveless tee shirt that bodybuilders wear to show off their arm pits, over the holster as a cover.. The very deeply cut arm holes allow fast access but still cover the holster so it is unseen.
