How many of you use knives?

If this subject has been previously covered, would the moderators please redirect or delete it.

In my 90+ years on this earth, I can't remember acquiring my first knife, nor its type, neither can I remember ever willingly being without one.

Knives can be used as weapons, but I decline discussing that issue.
I merely want to discuss knives, as everyday tools,

When I'm at home, a knife is in my possession at all times, and I never leave home without one.

A knife is used, in the preparation of meals, regardless of where it's prepared, and when that meal is consumed a knife is generally used.

I consider Knives, our most important tools!

Well, Chubbo, I agree. In addition to being our most important tools — or, because they are our most important tools — there is a great deal of satisfaction in having a good knife for the task at hand, whatever it may be.

I kind of wish that I could say I have carried a knife since I was a kid but honestly, their utility didn't really hit me until I was in my 60's,,, duh. Now I can't be without one and have a different one for every day of the week. Kinda partial to Kershaw in general,,, Leek in particular.

I only carry a knife if I have pants on. I've worn out 2 Buck 110's in my life Worn out from daily use not broke.

I still have my first two knives from almost 50 years ago A SAK and a Camillus. I also have my fathers first knife. A Dwight Devine BoyScout knife from the 30's.

It is said that a knife was the first "crafted" tool man made. I have not been without a knife of some kind more than a week in total since I received my first knife at age 4. Most were so dull that you could ride to Texas on the blades and not get cut. The original multi tool. My 11-year-old grandson counts the number of times and types of uses his gets while visiting in the mountains. No rules about having them in school. I faced down many scary situations as a kid with just my pocketknives. I have destroyed or lost more knives than most people have owned. Now I collect antique knives and have over 400 US military knives and American made folders and straight knives. Most are WW2 era and earlier with the earliest folder dating to revolutionary times. An interesting tidbit of knife history, prisoners of war on all sides were allowed to keep their pocketknives. How else would you punch a new hole in your belt, remove slivers, do minor surgery, open cans of food, cut up the little meat you were rationed. The list goes on.

I've made a living useing a knife as a tool.
I've enjoyed the outdoor life with a knife with me.
I've enjoyed the convince of a knife in my pocket so I am allways in the ready.

I've carried a pocket knife or had one in a case on my belt ever since I was a teenager. I've utilize just about every iteration of pocket knife from higher quality folders to automatics depending on what the latest and greatest offering was being marketed. I've got a drawer full of name brand and not so name brand knives.

Finally, about 15 years ago, I encountered a Swiss Army SD and have never been without one in my pocket since. I bet I've lost or misplaced two dozen of them and eventually only about half that many have turned back up where I left them. I may still carry a larger knife if the situation warrants, but a Swiss Army SD will still be in my front pocket.

I don't know how you function daily without one?

Boxes, packaging, envelopes, rope, twine...the list is endless.

My EDC for the last 10 years or so is a Spyderco Endura, Fully Serrated VG10 Blade, thin stainless scales. Practically indestructible and a GREAT all around knife.

I have carried them all my life for one thing or another and have several that I choose from each day to stick in my pocket or clip onto the pocket. My brother passed away over a year ago and had been a huge knife collector, both commercial and custom. He had weeded out some, $$$ before he died but left me a large collection of both commercial and full custom knives for which I have been very grateful.
We have sold off a large amount of the commercial knives and now have the customs to deal with. I love the process and discovery but I only want to keep a few keepsakes and will likely sell the majority. Many are art knives that I have no use for but I appreciate them for what they are.

I have carried one daily since I was a child. Feel naked if I somehow leave it behind. Traditional slipjoints to just about every lock style out there. Even small fixed blades at times. Packages, mail, cordage, kitchen use... if it needs cutting, my knife is in hand. Even been known to use it in a restaurant on occasion when the house knife couldn't cut butter.

It is virtually impossible for a day to go by here at the ol' homestead without using a knife for some sort of task. Whether it be cutting the string on hay bales, opening feed sacks, cutting scion wood on apple trees, shaving wood, or just simply opening my mail, my knife is called on to do duty several times a day. I doubt I could exist without one. If so, it would be pretty darn hard.:D

Every day since I was about 10 years old. I've carried a lot of different knives, because I've done a lot of different jobs over the years. On construction, I carried a Buck two-blade folding hunter on my belt plus a medium 3 blade stockman in my pocket. I've always had a thing for the large stockman pattern, like the Case 6375, but they didn't make it in SS and I could never carry a CV pocketknife - I rust them up in very short order. These days with an office job, I've grown really fond of a SAK Spartan but there's usually a bit larger knife close by, too - in my car or truck, everyday carry bag, or desk. One of my recent favorites is a little Mora fixed blade I paid $10 for at a gun show. Now I wish I'd bought about a half dozen of them and stashed one everywhere I might be and need a knife.
