In spite of many folks caution about cross draw holsters, I’m going to give it a whirl. I’ve tried it with a three slot holster and found it very comfortable and much easier on my back. However the the three slot holster is not really optimal as a cross draw because it doesn’t pull the but in tight against the abdomen.

So I’m mulling over either the Kramer horsehid cross draw or the Rosen Transverse. I’m looking for real world users of either or both who can shed some light on how well they work. The holster will be used for either a 1 7/8” J frame or a Colt Defender. Thanks for your input. Stay safe.

I looked at the Kramer and Rosen options you mentioned to compare them to my C. Rusty Sherrick dual-use cross draw holster. They appear to be very similar.

My C. Rusty horsehide holster works well as an appendix carry or cross draw but does not pull tight against the body in either position. Frankly, I don't think the others would fair much better even though they cost more money.

I've found the Don Hume H715-M to be an excellent body-hugging dual-use IWB holster for my EDC at more than half the price.

I got the Privateer Crossbones for my P320 and loved it enough to get another for my P239. Wes over there has developed a crossdraw magazine holder that is fantastic.

Whit, please keep us informed as to what you decide and how it works out for you.
Will do. Another possibility has popped up, Tucker Gun Leather. They produce two cross draw models. In an email conversation, Rob at Tucker suggested their pancake cross draw model. In the past I’ve been pleased with the quality of Tucker’s products.

I have a couple of Tuckers. While well made, stiff and sturdy, they do seem heavier and thicker than my Kramer pocket holster or my Mitch Rosen pancakes. The Rosen holsters are a much closer fit. Boned, of course, whereas the Tuckers are not.
