My friend has one on his AR and he swears by it. Can't comment on quailty or glass only used it once or twice. It's shorter than my Burris MTAC. Not too many reviews out there for it. It would be perfectly fine on a .22.

I'm going to suggest the Optisan Mamba over the Kruger. It's $50 more but it's a better scope. Optisan 1-4x24 Mamba / EAR30 Mount Combo It's gotten pretty good reviews on ar15.com and Optics Talk. Received my Optisan 1-4X24 Mamba from SWFA today - AR15.COM

My BSA Sweet .22 seems to be working fine to 100 yards (I haven't shot further) and it can be found for less than $100. Although, I've only used it three times. The 3x9 magnification is great for seeing your shots on paper.

Although I've heard good stuff about the BSA sweet 22.... It's waaaay too big for my taste, which is why I said "compact/tacticool"
Same goes for that mamba. Just waaaay too big....
Can anyone chime in with a decent smaller option based on my specs needed???

Only really compact scopes I can think of are fixed magnified, UTG/Leapers, Barska, and NcStar scopes. I normally don't recommend theses. Most good quality 1-4 or similar variable scopes are around 11 inches.

NcStar has some 2-7 and 3-9 scopes that are compact.

UTG has some 1-4x scopes that are less than 10 inches.

Barska has some that are around 10 inches.

Other options

I've considered some of them but ruled out all that don't go as low as 1.5x as I wanna use it for close range shots also. I've also been looking at some of these in comparison to the Kruger but need some forum feedback good or bad:

Amazon.com: Aim Sports 1.5-5X32 Dual III. Scope with Green Laser (Short): Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: Firefield 2.5 - 10x40 mm AR - 15 / M16 Laser Scope: Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: AIM Sports 1.5 - 4x30 mm Tactical Scope with Mount Matte Black: Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: 1.5-5X32 DUAL ILL. COMPACT QRM SCOPE BUILT-IN 5mw GREEN LASER SIGHT: Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: NcStar Mark III Tactical P4 Sniper 3-9X42/Scope Adaptor Mount/Red Dot Combo Package (STP3942G/D): Sports & Outdoors

That last one Im giving thought if the 1x ones aren't good quality.

Any insight is much appreciated....

They're all going to have about the same quality considering their price and where they're made. Wouldn't be surprised if they're made in the same factory. Just pick one that you like the most.

I thought the 1-6 scope that Primary Arms is working on was the Optisan Prestige with their own BDC recticle.

PA 1-6x

If you aren't in a hurry, Primary Arms has an "acog style" 1-6 in the works. I have a feeling it will be there next big seller.

I'm also interested in more info on this PA 1-6x that you mentioned....does anyone have any idea of when it's supposed to be available???

Looks like I'm wrong. I read about it on another forum. I read wrong. It's going to be like the 1-4x24, but 1-6x. My bad guys.

I just got the 1-4 not long ago and I like it a lot. I'm going to have to pick up one of those 1-6 cqb scopes.

I've heard great things about Primary Arms. I also plan on getting their version of the Optisan 1-6x when it comes out. I like BDC reticules that's why I have the Burris MTAC. Only thing is Optisan doesn't have a presence in the States for warranty and service.

Currently, all the high quality 1-6x are $1000+. Some say that the Optisan is on par with the high end optics. If it is, it would be one hell of a bargain.

I just picked up this scope on sale from Barska Barska 3-9x40 Contour 30mm Rifle Scope for my 10/22 takedown.

$90.00 8 inch total length, 3-9 x 40 and comes with mounting rings. I haven't used it yet, but hoping it is OK. I like the compact dimensions and rubberized armored exterior.

If it shoots well and fits in the takedown's carry bag while mounted I'll be happy.
