I am not affiliated with MTR leather, just a VERY satisfied customer.

I had Matt at MTR make me an "SIS" style OWB holster for my 4566. He did a great job. Also made me the best single magazine holder I've owned to date. Very durable too.

I have been using MTR products for several years. Mostly Sig/Glock holsters he made that fit my S&W 3rd gen guns. We all know how difficult it is to find good leather for the 3rd gen pistols. Almost impossible when you are a southpaw like I am.

A few years ago I asked Matt why he didn't make holsters for 3rd gen S&W pistols. He told me he didn't have the guns to make molds from. I supplied him last year and he now has holsters for most of the 3rd gen guns. Specify which model you want before you order.

I believe he is on the web now. MTR Custom Leather. He isn't exactly inexpensive, but buy right cry once. ;) Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

Thanks for the heads up.

I just bought a Wild Bill holster for my Shorty since they are localish and it was the first made for 3rd gen holster I've seen in person. The Kramer IWB (for a SIG P220R) I had been using worked, but having a holster made for the model of pistol you are carrying is nice.

I'll check them out, I need a better magazine carrier.

I searched the net and checked out his website, he's certainly got a variety of designs that look functional and durable. I like his hardware and how he has it set up on a lot of his IWB stuff especially, and the IWB/OWB holster is a sweet design.

The only thing I would like to see improved at these prices are better finished/executed seams and edges. Some of the items pictured look to be good in this regard, but many seem to have rough, unfinished edges and jumpy stitching.

PM incoming with a few quick, constructive tips you can pass on to Matt.

Thanks for sharing 18DA1!

Prices looked very good to me (nice web site as well).

I had some made by Tim Thurner of TT Gunleather and I couldn't be happier. They are awesome, handmade in the USA (Montana) and extremely high quality. Tim has many 3rd gen blanks and made an especially sweet two tone IWB for my 4014.

That's not to detract or compare to MTM's holsters; not to hijack this thread- except to say my custom TT gunleather holsters cost more than MTM's; and I still fond them to be a good value and reasonably priced. In fact, they were much less than a Sparks or similar and the lead time was much quicker.

If the MTM is as nice as you describe, it's a bargain.

For those of us who have a bit of a lazy streak, not wanting to search for the company online, pictures in the thread topic would be handy. ;)

BAM-BAM I brought him detailed photos (front and back) of the SIS 1911 holster made by Rusty Sherrick for LAPDs SIS unit.

Then he made me a similar holster (same cant and profile/features) made to fit a 4566. I had intended to use it with my PC 4566 45 CQB. But that gun still isn't..........right, yet.

So I use my standard 4566's in it. Regards 18DAI

MTR isn't showing any 3rd generation Smiths in their "gun type" list.....

course they didn't list the Beretta 92 Compact either...... and they make the Beretta holsters for "Wilson Combat"
