I have been unable to locate a IWB Kydex holster for a Model 457. The company advised that they do not offer a holster for this model, but I should find a current model that is similar to a Model 457. Does anyone have knowledge of a similar current pistol that is similar in size to a Model 457 ?

Thanks,
Jimmy

I don’t know which I dislike more; Kydex holsters or the IWB method of concealment. That said, I do own a Vedder for a Glock 43 which is tolerable. If I lost some weight, it might even be pleasant to wear.

However, my purpose was not to disparage your choice but rather offer to mail you a Don Hume JIT belt slide #30(?) made for the S&W 457/4516-1, IIRC. It is leather and a belt holster BUT if you just are in need of a holster for a discontinued gun and like the color black and are right handed then holler and off it goes.

It is one of these here. The other photo is the Vedder and Glock 43.

That is pretty classy post!

I have used kydex holster shells for slightly different guns myself - Commander and High Power, one Sig for another Sig. P226 or 220 would be my best guesses too.

I really like Holster Builder and DIY Holster, as using a pre-made shell is easier than totally rolling your own Kydex (do not use your wife’s toaster oven). Kydex makes it easy to experiment. I would much rather try out a temporary gun and holster combo with $20-30 than spend $200 for something that doesn’t work.

“ than spend $200 for something that doesn’t work.”

I have a few examples of those myself. I recently traded into these two Andrews holsters for my Beretta 92fs. The IWB rubs my hip, the other is a Hi-jacker that was supposed to be a Crossdraw. It might be comfortable if I rode a horse or drove a motorcycle. I find it uncomfortable in a car.

The Mitch Rosen IWB for my Sig P225 feels more comfortable to me; perhaps because the Sig is slimmer and lighter.

jimmyj, my apologies, the Don Hume JIT #30 fits the Sig P225. I do have two of those in brown.

The JIT #33 is what you need for the S&W 457. Though I can’t remember what I had for breakfast...I do indeed have a black, RH, JIT #33 that only took three hours to find.

I will get it in the mail tomorrow.

Those Don Hume JIT holsters are great! They are what I use daily, with several of my 3rd gen 45s including my 457.

Blade tech use to make a Kydex IWB holster, specifically for the 457. You might contact them to see if they still do, or have some new old stock available.

Personally, I prefer the JIT. With the sharpie marker finish of the 457, I think a Kydex holster would rub it to bare steel fairly quickly. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

I have a Sig SP2340 .40 S&W which is not easy to find a holster for. I found a used JIT for dirt cheap; fits like a glove and carries the gun high enough to conceal under a shirt tail.

jimmyj this OWB kydex is for sale at a nearby shop for $40.00. First quality, not a second. It was supposed to be LH.
