Today was a great day I took the morning off and took my four children to the range. They worked hard all weekend cleaning the house and did a great job. The first this thing we did was go to shoneys and had a big breakfast. Man was that good. Then o the range we went got there and bad news all the benches were taken and had to wait. So about 20 minutes later we had one and went to blasting. Here are some pictures the first is my little girl waiting patiently for me to help her. The next is my 2nd boy putting the lead down range. And the last is part of the guns we took. Had a great time so did the kids one last thing. Before all this happened I asked the kids what they wanted to do Monday and they informed me they were having weapons day.

What a great day you had!! You could make those pictures into
promotional posters!
Gee, I wonder where they got the term "weapons day"?
Congratulations on a fine family, and a fine day!

It started out as ninja day. They had all my pre teen weapons that I've kept for 28 years out in the ready for an ambush on the maple tree out back. I made the mistake of teaching them to throw a knife. I also bought my 2nd boy some good throwing stars. I wish I had pictures of my 5 yo with the nunchuckas. Chuck ain't got nothing on him. After the shoot we broke out the blow gun and darts. Man it was hard to come in to work today. Doeboy

My hat is off to you. Familiarity and knowledge, imparted under a loving parent's watchful eye, is the best insurance against firearms accidents and a host of other maladies. Your kids will become proficient, and they will know a heckuva lot more than their peers who know only what they see on TV and in the movies. We need more fathers like you.

I have since they have been interested shown my babies how to handle guns. My wife wasn't happy how I do it but it works. When my babies were old enough to ask to hold a gun I would let them. Now for the teaching part. (Some may not agree) I would set them up to fail (with an empty open bolt gun) I would hand them the gun knowing they would at some point unknowly point that gun at me. Then I would unleash hells fire on them and just scare them silly for that mistake. worked with all four children I would rather be too harsh than lose one. They walk around each other like they are carrying a bomb and explain each step of what they are doing to me. Maybe a good idea for those parents that have little ones they want to teach about guns. What I did didn't make them lose interest just a big impression and everytime I open the safe they want to hold a gun. Doeboy

Interesting teaching method. I did something similar: if they muzzle-swept or fingered a trigger on a cocked and loaded gun, we went home. They learned real quick! Breakfast out and a morning at the range, perfect day!

I just hope that one day, one of your kids is my kids neighbors.
Wow, it would be hard to have a better day than that. You're doin' it right.
Peace,
gordon
