Hello,
I have a model 31-1 (32 S&W Long) made in 1969-70. The cylinder had a little end shake so I ordered some J frame cylinder shim washers. The shims are too small and will not slide on the extractor shaft. Turns out I need to get the larger shims made for the J frame 22 rimfire. I looked at my model 36-1 and it has the smaller extractor shaft. Wonder why these two J frames (32-1 & 36-1) have different extractor rod diameters?

Thanks,
Bill

Because there isn't room in the .38 cylinder for the larger diameter extractor shaft. The .22 & .32 guns still use the original diameter that dates back to the original I-Frame .32 HE in 1896.
