Anyone from Las Vegas going to the gun show this weekend? The wife and I are meeting her baby brother and his family in Vegas (a trip that was planned some time ago) and I just happened to check the Nevada gun show schedule. Lo and behold, there's a gun show in Vegas this weekend:D It's been awhile since I've been to an out of state show. I think I've seen every overpriced gun at every Florida gun show and a change of venue might be nice. I need to find a carved leather holster for my engraved early Chiefs and figured out in the South West, there has to be a plethora of custom holster makers and their wares. Also if I do happen to find that birth year Model 19-2 round butt snubbie (or something equally special), can I buy it and have it shipped to my FFL in Florida, not being a Nevada resident? I know I can't buy it directly, but if it goes directly to an FFL, is that OK? Oh, and one last thing. I've got my TSA approved case and locks and printed out the TSA rules to have with me at check in, so I'm going to take my M342 with me to CC while I'm there. It's my first shot at checking a firearm for travel with the TSA, so I'll let you know how that all goes.

Do you have a CCW that Nevada recognizes? I attend shows sponsored by this show host, there may be some custom holster makers there but there is a competing show in the area that may draw some dealers away.

I have a Florida permit, so it’s recognized by Nevada. Where is the other show?

So far so good. Getting ready to take off from TPA. TSA screening was pretty straightforward and quick. Just signed the declaration card and put it in the case, got the printed receipt and we headed to the gate.

Taking a firearm on a plane so you can exercise your 2A rights at your final destination is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Everyone I dealt with was admittedly pro 2A and thought it was a good idea to utilize my CC license as an out of state visitor. One of the TSA women at Mccarren airport even gave me directions to what she said was the best gun range. The only place I couldn’t take it was when we did the dam tour, but that wasn’t a big deal. Still planning on the gun show tomorrow, so I’ll report on that.

I've never done it but Vegas really is a fairly pro-gun city in my experience. Some GREAT ranges especially the Clark County range northwest of the city tucked on the side of the mountain. REALLY nice.

....except for its pathetically short rifle ranges. When the range was first discussed 20+ years ago we were promised 500-1000 yard ranges. I think the current maximum is 200 yards or meters (forget how it is marked). Does a .308/8mm/7.5 Swiss look like a 200 yard cartridge to you guys?

We finally got home at 3AM this morning, so I haven't had a chance to do a gun show report until now. I wanted to go on Saturday, but with all of the things my wife had booked for us to do, it just didn't work out. So anyway, by the time I got there, around 10:30 on Sunday, there were already people packing up and a lot of empty tables. I did see quite a few K and N frame revolvers. One guy had two nice model 19's, a -3 and a -5. I found two separate model 30-1's and was a little tempted to buy one. I only saw two Gen 3's, a 4506 and a 4006, neither in very good condition and both overpriced. Prices on everything were way high compared to Florida, but maybe because it's Vegas. Other than that, everything was exactly like a Florida gun show. Same gimmick vendors same jerky and same mil surp stuff. All in all, Vegas was pretty fun. Did a ton of walking; the app on my phone says I did a total of almost 19 miles during the 5 days we were there. The TSA experience was pretty boring. It cost $25 baggage fee each way, so I think it was well worth it to be armed nearly everywhere we went. Vegas is a pretty gun friendly environment and there were some areas we walked through where I was glad we were armed. The wife thinks it was silly taking guns and not shooting them while I was there, but I told her: "These are not target guns, but protection that I'm hoping we won't need." I also looked up an old shipmate who moved to Vegas back in the '80s, and we had dinner and a lot of reminiscing.

Thanks for posting this as I didn't go. Spent too much on buying a new guns and a new car for my wife in the last couple of months.

Steve, we just drove from Las Vegas to Kingman yesterday on the new Boulder City by-pass, I-11. Going south you can see a rifle range off to the right around mile marker 10-11 or so. It looks like it has some has extremely long ranges. You can see it on Google Earth, at the junction of Canyon Point Road and Boyscout Canyon Road. I-11 isn't shown because the photo was taken before the new freeway was built. Follow Utah Street south out of Boulder City, it dead ends at Canyon Point Rd.

I went to the show Saturday morning got in quickly. Found a Model 13 3 inch blue for $600 and a 2 inch square butt C serial number M&P for $500 did not buy either one. Usual junk other than gun related looked like about 1/2 of building was being used.
I bought 3 boxes of American Eagle 30 carbine amount and left by 11. Crowd was getting bigger and with doors open in building was getting warm.
