Las Vegas Sphere

In it's hay day, Reno, Tahoe and Vegas clubs did a fantastic business in
entertaining people
with great rooms, food, shows and the gaming to keep you happy, during your stay.

Today with all the out of state gambling, Lotto etc, the Nevada clan is not what it used to be and has been down scaled and quality has gone down hill
in a lot of the clubs.

The endless Buffets that were only $19 are now near $50 and the use of coins is no more in the slots and when you win you receive a paper print out, that you take to the cashiers box.

I stopped gambling over twenty years ago, when "Single deck" stopped.

I'm showing my age here but I liked Vegas better when it was run by the mob. So long as you didn't try to cheat them, they gave you cheap rooms, cheap food, cheap entertainment and free booze. Vegas today is run by people who may not take you out in the desert if caught cheating, but will do everything within their power to get every last dime out of you.

If only I had a winning poker hand for every time I've heard that said in this town. I arrived in '97 and the place was still fun, with cheap food and plenty of comps if you decided to spend a bunch. The corporate squeeze really started after 9/11 and became a chokehold after the 2008 banking debacle.

Once the corporate drones decided to charge for parking, I was done with the Strip. My only interest in it is finding a good vantage point for pictures should it catch fire from end to end. Their excuse was "it's the industry norm in other tourist destinations". In that one statement alone the corporate jerks have sowed the seeds of our decline. The whole point of Vegas is that it was not the same as those other places. But the almost Communist mindset of modern business people wants everything the same these days.
