Laser grips for ccw test?

Anyone use laser grips during the CCW test? Or is it considered "cheatin'"?

Not sure how they do it in Idaho, but in OK you can use any legal carry gun. Most use semi-auto, because that qualifies to carry any type.

But if you need a laser sight to hit our "in your face" target, you're incompetent with a handgun!! So your laser might get laughed at here.

Most "shooting tests" for CCW are merely safety tests to see if you can safely load and fire your gun downrange. You have to be a real disaster to fail.

It's been years since I took my test, and the test here may be different than the test there, but if I couldn't have passed the test I took without a laser sight I should have been denied the permit. The target was a full-sized (BIG!) silhouette, and the max range was 15 yards. A hit ANYWHERE on the target was good. Heck, a person should be able to pass such a test with no sights at all.

Personally, even if I used a laser sight I would practice and take the test without it. Why risk my life on th life of a battery?

I took the CCW course in North Carolina a few weeks ago and used my 637CT. Range was ridculously close. But as mentioned in another post all the semiauto kids wanted to hold my gun ( I mean handgun). Funny the hi-cap boys didnt do any better than I.

In New Mexico, it would be up to the instructor who is signing off not only on your accuracy but also on your gun handling. I have no objection to students using them but with a max range on the qualification course of 7 yards and a target measureing 12" X 18", I have not noticed any advantage in accuracy.
