My two year old Husquvarna was stolen last week. I had it chained but that did'nt slow the b#$tards at all. Walmart has Snapper and Lowe's has Troybilt for about $1000.00. Both around 15hp. Anyone with experience and recommendations? Thanks.

A cheap 20" push mower. Nobody wants yo steal one of those. I've been trying to get someone to steal mine for years.

When I bought my hose it came with an old 10hp Murray with a 30 inch deck. Last summer it quit moving and being a 1992 model I sent down the road. I bought a 2011 John Deere X300 58 hours and a 42inch deck and I'm more that happy with it. Looked at some of the MTD models and did not think they would stand up to my yard.

If you can't lock it up safely just get the cheapest thing you can buy, try to get at least a Briggs and Stratton engine. I've had great luck with mowers, have only bought two new mowers in over 40 years. The first one was a Snapper, after 15 years I replaced the engine and most of the drive components except the gear box which is indestructable and took it out the two lake properties where it spent the next ten years mowing alot of weeds and rocks, after the sale of the lake properties I brought it back home and sold it for $150. The other mower is a Honda, I've used to only to mow the lawn in town, have had it for about 25 years and other than replacing the throttle cable and blade (once), air filters, etc. it has been trouble free. I won't even look anywhere else for a mower. I used to work in building maintenance for a transit company we used Commercial Toros, the best of those ran Kawasaki engines for powerplants, they were great machines but then at close to 1,500 bucks per pop had better be.

Why not another Husy? I have one from Lowes with 48 "reinforced" deck, 24 horse briggs, was 1899 (I think), but I got a 10% vet discount, seems like a decent mower for its class & money, to get better then you gotta move up to the 4-5 grand price range. Regards Ernie

I have one of those. I like the nice quiet running motor. It makes my Craftsman sound like a full size machine shop!!:)
