Have any of you forum members utilized Barnes XTP copper bullets? I've looked them over at their website and they appear to be quite technically advanced and expensive.

I'm asking because the owners of the local indoor range I shoot at keep telling me they won't allow 'toxic' ammo at their facility. They first mentioned it when I brought in a box of remanufactured ammo made by Freedom Munitions and said I couldn't use it, but now they're saying even Winchester White Box ammo doesn't meet their 'no toxic ammo' requirements.

I see Fiocchi, Barnes, and ICC mentioned as lead-free manufacturers, but besides Barnes', they're all frangible ammo. Do others sell lead free ammo?

Does anyone use lead free ammo?

The intent of the lead-free/frangible bullets is a safer environment primarily for indoor ranges. This ammo usually has an NT (non toxic) on the headstamp. Many manufacturers make this ammo. PMC Green, for example.

The Barnes all copper bullets have a different purpose. They are designed for optimum penetration and expansion as self defense ammo. That they are lead free from a toxicity perspective is beside the point in this case. And yes, as a a specialty bullet, they are very expensive. Not for economical range blasting.
