just tonight, I was watching Jeopardy. They had a category on the Pima Air Museum, in Tucson.
Was surprised to see a P-63. I never saw a P-63 there. I will be over there after Christmas, betcha I'll see one then.
I'll only sing one song-
I have heard America Hero Hervey Stockman talk about going to gunnery school over at Kingman.
Later he flew Mustangs but at Kingman they were flying the P-63 little brother, the P-39.
He said that they would drone around and Round the gunnery pattern on those hot AZ afternoons.
And it would get hot in the cockpit.
No problemo! Just roll down the windows. The P-39 had a door to enter the cockpit.
It also has car-like roll down windows.
No wonder the Ruskies liked it.
