I have lost the central vision in my right dominant eye lately and am trying to trying to learn to shoot rifles left handed. It is very clumsy for me. I can still shoot handguns o k with both eyes open but rifles so far have baffled me. I can no longer even see a rifle sight with my right eye but don't want to give up shooting them. Anyone else ever had this problem. I am open to tips on left handed shooting.

Same here, 25 years ago. With autoloaders, you need to do the same thing a southpaw would do. Practice makes perfect. With a light RH bolt gun, you may be able to hold the rifle with your left hand and operate the bolt with your right. If not, get a LH gun or an autoloader. Easy for me to say - four of my five rifles were already autoloaders, and the one RH bolt gun was a target gun that I mainly shoot from the bench.

I didn't even bother trying to learn to use scatterguns left-handed. I wasn't any good right-handed, either.

Shooting left-handed is just a matter of practice, probably a lot of practice. The fundamentals are still the same. Except for some autoloaders having a slight RH bias in controls, there's really nothing different.

Good luck!

I'm a lefty and have shot the 1898 Krag, 1903, Model 1917 and M1 all my life left handed. It's a pain with the bolt actions but a piece of cake with the M1. Just take your time and concentrate on making sure you are using your left eye.

The M1 was fun when I was in a line of shooters qualifying. Every now and then a hot cartridge would find its way down the back of my fatigues. Had to make sure I didn't jump up and discharge the weapon.
