All Items used are listed below...

I recently purchased a 16.5' roll of leds, solder gun, solder, assorted shrink tubing and a Roller switch to add lights to the inside of my gun safe. All the items were less than $40 and this is a easy project and has endless ways to use other than a gun safe.

I took the led strip, which comes with 3M sticky on the back, and lined the inside door jamb of my safe starting at the bottom right corner, up and across the top and then back down the left side. I used the roller switch listed below to turn the lights on and off with the open/ close of the door.

If you can solder you can do this with ease, if you cant... get on youtube and learn how!

I will be getting another roll and doing lights in the bed of my truck, maby lights under the dash in the foot wells.

Now to the pix/ videos.

This is the safe with the leds on, underpowered with a 9volt battery instead of 12volt. The leds are the only lights on in the room.

Nice addition there. I am envious.

Now how often do you get to NW Louisiana and how many safes do you figure you can do in day?

Very nice, have some LED rope lighting I was going to put into mine but hadn't thought of the roller switch. Thanks for the idea - Joe

Got a buddy doing it in his bed tool box, another dude did it under the hood of his truck. My next project is lights in the bed of my truck.

i recently installed led lights in my safe...i ran a power box into the safe as well to hook it to as well as my golden rod...piece of cake!

I also did mine with LED's, but your method would have saved me $ - nice job. The auto switch is a great idea.

Mine looks like this - I emptied the safe for installation, so no wisecracks about not enough guns :p

J.Wal....just wanted to say thanks for the tips on the LED lights. I recently bought a much larger safe and was looking for a good way to light it. I bought the exact LED's that you listed as well as a 125v to 12v converter. The LED's worked great! I already had everything else I needed so I was able to light the safe for less than $25.
Thanks for the info!
Craig....

No problem. Considered adding a battery backup for if your electricity is out?

Nah...I think I'll just use a flashlight if the power goes out. I live in a hurricane area (Texas Gulf Coast) so if a storm comes and I have to leave, the guns go with me anyway.

I have been thinking about other applications for the LES's though. The lights are awesome.

I am wrapping up just now putting 2 strips in the trunk of my work car. I work at night and have a lot of equipment in the trunk so I figured I would light it up. Tapped into the factory trunk light, now it's automatic!

No problem, on a side note, got a new sling, scope and red dot on my M&P 15 this week. Going tomorrow to remove the front sight and get a flip up style!
