Legal ramifications in trigger mods?

When I took my CCW class, one of the first things the instructor taught us was if you are ever in a situation where you have to defend yourself and actually shoot someone, call 911 and request the Police and Ambulance. Don't tell them you shot someone, just that there has been a shooting. When the Police arrive, tell them that you want the person shot arrested and that you wish to speak to a Lawyer. Period.
This video explains why what he said is true and is well worth watching. Talking to the Police by Professor James Duane

Yup, that video tells the absolute truth. Under no circumstance talk to the police. The police are there to put you in jail and there are 25,000 different minor little stupid things you can say to a police officer that will allow him to do so. My point exactly. Thax

The second I read "Professor" I knew better than to believe a word he said. I have arrested a couple college professors who knew what to say and how to say it, then went to jail stunned that their theoretical and unproven hypothesis did not translate into real world practical results. We have a large university in my jurisdiction and it scares me to think these people are supposed to be educating the youth. Most of them couldn't fight their way out of wet paper sack with a razor blade and two teaching assistants.

Outside of California (that was for you vector16) I can assure you that being defensive, withholding basic information and demanding the police arrest the body on the ground is going to leave investigating LEO's with an impression that does not resemble innocent victim who defended him or herself against an attacker. The truth almost always comes out, but why in the world would you want to start out on the wrong side of the 8-Ball? On a related note; if you need to have a prostrate exam don't walk into the Dr's office and insult his wife.

Thanks fellas for your insights. I really don't think I modified the trigger because the trigger sear assembly is intact. The spring I removed is known as a torsion spring and it made to add poundage which makes it hard and gritty. I shot at the range with it in and my accuracy suffered. After removal I got groups on target at 25 feet. The trigger is still a little hard (good) but the trigger is smoother.

I was wondering if I can find a softer pigtail spring to put back in thus adding another pound but leave the trigger smooth.

I don't think you would be able to find a softer pig tail. If you sent it back to S&W, and they put the pig tail back in. Then you could take it back apart, and CAREFULLY unwind it one wrap at a time. But if your not careful it will unwind all the way back to no tension. Then it maybe a little more difficult to get it back where you want it, or you'll just loose it, again.:D

J,
lets be real here, if a spring had no tension it would be a straight paper clip. That is not how the pig tail spring in the gun works anyway.
If you take your spring and maket to two ends a little more flat so the sear assembly does not rest so far from the sear block. this will do what you are looking for too.
please excuse my art work

The sear assembly has its own spring tension that resets the sear by the action of the cams. Since none of those springs were removed it has plenty of tension. The pigtail spring adds torque to the assembly thus making it hard on the trigger.
