LEO trade in 410 for $280, tempting...

I was issued a Glock 22 for nine years (security), have confidence in the caliber but because I haven't had a stash of ammo like I do for 9mm/45acp I just haven't bothered to get a 40s&w since ammo went up (last time I bought it, Blazer was $6.15/50rds).


Local place has a few 410s as department trade-ins (seemed odd to me too). One was $375, another was $270 and worn (rear sight looked really rough) and another for $280. The $375 came with two mags, others with three (I know, makes no sense to me either).


I held the $280 one, came close to buying it but just transferred my 6946 late last week so don't want to get one so soon. I also prefer DAO but have had a few DA/SA over the years so I can run one if needed. Sure would be a cheap truck gun.




The tags said they came from a PD in MO but the guns are not marked.

The last trade-in "truck gun" I bought has become one of my favorite shooters. It is at arm's reach.

I "get" the truck gun idea. I do.

The thought of leaving one in the car (or truck) is something I have entertained, but can't bring myself to do it. I think they should be under my direct supervision (or locked up) at all times.

I just don't think it's safe. I like my pistols either locked up in a safe, near me (like when I'm sleeping), or on my person.

That said, $280 for a good-quality pistol with 3 mags is a good deal.

I've bought a couple of police trade ins 6906 and a 5946 . The 5946 is now my carry gun.

I have a 410, and it's just "ok". I have been looking for a 411 at a reasonable price to replace it. It has the hogue grips, always felt kind of cheap to me, but shoots and runs fine. For $280, it's hard to go wrong, I paid $300 for mine.

If I'm not mistaking the 410/411 are the same gun, the difference was mag capacity . Tell me if I'm wrong. For $280 I'd buy it.
