Last night my wife approached me with a kiss and said that Memorial Day is in my honor, since I am a veteran.

I told her that this holiday is not for me - it's for the fallen, who gave their lives for our country.

I'm surprised that she did not know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Today, I honor those who gave their last full measure of devotion in battle.

My hand salute goes to Ed Cribb and Chuck Walling - good friends from high school and college that I still miss a lot. Both left wives and children to go to war willingly.

May God rest their souls and give them peace for eternity.

I hope that each of you will today honor those you knew who gave their lives, and say a prayer for all who perished for this country. A single day to memorialize them will never be enough. All gave some, and for those who gave all - this is THEIR day.

I know the difference between the two holidays. I still think that those that served and saw war in any measure had a little piece of themselves die on the battlefield. I still believe that it is honorable to acknowledge those that are among us as well as those that gave their last full measure.
