I keep an eye on this section of the Forum to see if there are any issues being reported on various M&P pistols. I also enjoy seeing positive posts about S&W successes. I'm glad to see that there haven't been any posted problems with the 10mm for quite some time, giving me some hope that S&W has resolved the F2F and inadvertent mag drop issues. I bought a new 4.6" 10mm 2.0 back in Sept. 2022, and unlike so many others, have had zero issues with that pistol. After about 600 rounds, I decided that it was dependable enough to become my home defense pistol, and I also carry it in my SUV or H-D during roadtrips. I really like the 10mm, and hope the lack of posts doesn't mean that the 10mm craze is over!

Long live the 10mm! It’s not going anywhere. I have nine or maybe 10 firearms chambered in 10mm. I just shot my M&P 2.0 this past weekend and no hiccups for the last 1500+rounds or so. I’ve lost count of my total, but I must be close to 2500, if not more. I’ve got the 4.6 also and purchased it in mid ‘22(July I think). I have yet to put any factory ammo through it and the majority have fairly hot loads.

Still no problems with my 4.6" either. Not sure of exact round count, but well over 1000 with hot Underwood and watered down 40s&w level loads. It eats everything and the recoil is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. No matter what I feed it, it runs without a hiccup.

I ordered a 4.6" for carrying in bear country about a year ago and the distributor sent me a 4" barrel gun and I was really upset. I contacted the place and they wouldn't take it back and said it was my mistake, but I triple checked all the order numbers and picture and it wasn't. I thought it would have harsher recoil and blast but it turned out that I LOVE the gun! Recoil and blast is not bad at all and it has the best trigger of any striker fired gun I own including two Sig 365s. I shoot it better than any of my auto loaders because of the ergonomics and the tall goofy sights and reliability has also been perfect.

To my knowledge there was no 10mm 1.0?

I was so impressed (or depressed?) by the various threads that populated this forum that I decided to try a different 1st 10mm: my Hi-Point JXP 10 has proven to be 100% reliable and more accurate than I would have ever imagined. It is a HANDFUL, though!

10mm is a great caliber: reloading for it is a dream.

Then I happened upon an XDM Elite.... My 1st Springfield ever.

Cheers!

P.S. As a M&P fan I am truly happy if the multiple problems reported by the earlier (earliest?) owners of the 10mms have been solved and wish them all the best.

I have a 4.6-inch M&P 10 mm that has had no issues for over 1000 rounds of factory 180 - 200 gr. factory ammunition.

I have replaced the suppressor height sights with a green fiber optic set from Dawson Precision, and it now has a Timney Alpha Target Trigger (3 lbs.)

Glad to find this post. I noticed I haven't seen a post on the M&P10mm in a while now, wasn't sure if I had missed it. Was wondering if the issues had wrung themselves out. Good to hear so far.

I have the 4.6" barreled 10mm and really like it.

Hasn't had any issues. Don't have the round count, computer choked and that was one of the files I lost.

In any event, it's happy with several varieties of Underwood rounds and pretty hot Fiocci JHP ammo as well as my handloads. Don

I have an M&P 10mm 4.6" I bought in March of 2022.
It's fired every type of round I've loaded it with EXCEPT some older Double Tap Hard Cast 200 grain with the wide front tip.
With these, it either jams or ejects the magazine.
I've thought of trying some stronger magazine springs.

MY QUESTION IS, has S&W gone to stronger magazine springs since the earlier made ones?

I have the 4.0" barreled 10mm. My recall is that the 4.6" version never had many complaints, and certainly fewer complaints than did the 4.0" version.

Anyway, I changed the recoil spring (based on early owners' input) and scrubbed it down thoroughly to be sure all of the packing grease was gone (another early owners' recommendation). I've had zero problems with it...from the first magazine until today, 2 years later.

My frustration was not being able to find additional magazines (same mags work in the 4.0 and 4.6 guns). That issue, too, is now resolved. So, I'm a happy camper. My 10mm is actually more fun to shoot than my 45 acp 4.0" M&P, although I like both of them. So now I have 4" guns in all 5 of my favorite calibers: 9 mm, 40 S&W (with a 357 SIG drop-in barrel), 10mm and 45 acp and like all of them. My only frustration is deciding which one(s) to take to the range each trip.

For what it's worth, my current count of 10mm M&Ps having problems with the mag drop issue is 27, but I haven't updated this in quite awhile:
S&W M&P 10mm Pistols: Prevalence of the Magazine Drop Malfunction | by Mark | Medium

I hope that S&W has sorted out the problem by now. If they've made changes, I wish they'd be transparent about what changes have been made, and to which guns. I'd like to try the 10mm M&P again, even with my two very negative experiences. It's hard to bring myself to do that without knowing which pistols are good to go, though.

In the meantime, my Sig XTen has been great. Still, I prefer the M&P platform to the 320 platform.

I was looking real hard at these but with some of the horror stories I read about customer service, I went with an Sig Xten Comp. Too bad because the zsmith checked a lot of boxes and it was about half the cost of the Sig.
