Looking through all of these beautiful.....

I can always tell when they take the car because Rosie always parks crooked in the driveway.

Looking through all of these beautiful dogs does my heart a lot of good. Sadly, tonight we lost Beau Beau. He was a 10 year old pound puppy with a thyroid condition that we tried to control with difficulty. He did not suffer unduly. A few days ago he had a hard time getting up and walking. Tonight he was even less able.It took four of us to get him into the back of the van, but he died right before we arrived. He 'belonged' to our son, but he was a family dog and four of us were broken hearted. Not to mention howRussell and Rosie are going to feel with the loss of their brother.

I have to agree, wonderful thread about mutts. We have 2 here. No cats, but we both like the felines. We even donate to sponsor a cage at the local shelter, you don't sponsor an animal but however many might reside there before hopefully getting their own home and family. Like many critter shelters, you can donate, sponsor, etc for a cat, small dog, large dog. Since we have dogs we have for years sponsored a cat cage, or as they put it a cat condo, for a year. It is the old saying, you can't save or help all but you can help one.

It is the old saying, you can't save or help all but you can help one.

I learned a long time ago, and learned the hard way, that I can't save them all.

Almost 700,000 dogs are killed in shelters in America every year. I use the word "killed" because we shouldn't tiptoe around it with gentle-sounding words like "put to sleep" or "put down" or even "euthanize". We kill them, pure and simple, and it's a sad statistic and a sad state of affairs.

Annie and Beau stopped to pay their respects at one of the monuments honoring Mecklenburg County law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. There are other monuments in this little area.

Also, most of the trees have a plaque at their base that honors other law enforcement officers who have died upholding the law and helping others.

If you click on this photo, it should enlarge so that you may read the names better.

Spiffy always thinks she's really pulled a fast one when she sneaks an inside toy outside. I wonder what goes on in their little minds? :)

This thread got me to thinking and I don't have a single person that I consider a friend that isn't an animal lover. And I expect I'm not the only forum member that can say that.

Saw the thread about the dog walker , and got to thinking . Seems like guns and dogs go together . I have an Aussie/Collie mix and 2 pure bred AKC registered Australian Shepherds (sisters.) Anyways , let's see some pics ! The red is also a sister , I babysit her once in a while .

Yep, my Aussie is a little nut, the women wanted me to get him fixed, hell he's perfect like he is, a mans dog...

My boys. Odin and apollo. Both great Dane puppies.

Beautiful boys! Outstanding! I'll bet they're lots of fun. Kudos to you, also, for keeping their ears natural instead of cropping them.

I know they had happy lives with you and were well loved and cared for. I'm sure they knew it, too. I am sorry for your loss.

I encourage any lovers of our 4 legged friends in SE Michigan to visit the Michigan War Dog Memorial in Lyon Twp. An old pet cemetery was discovered in 2010 and volunteers turned it into what it is today.

Wow. What a beautiful place for the canine heroes to take their eternal rest. Thanks for posting the link, too. I have bookmarked it in my computer and phone. A beautiful website with some excellent photographs. If some of the photos don't bring a tear to someone's eye, there's something wrong with them.

I think everyone should visit the MWDM website. I know they won't mind if I post one of their photographs as an incentive.

Cuyler , that's just wrong ! How did you get him/her to sit still ? Our groomer , also who I got my Aussies from , does that . She claims the owners love it . As long as she doesn't do it to my girls . You going to keep this going forever Watchdog ? Can't blame you , there's something about a dog and their unconditional love for their owner . Wish more people would take a hint and act more like them .
