Recently picked up this Canik METE SFT. Canik makes pistols in all shapes and sizes and my goal was to find a compact 9MM for a reasonable price and the SFT works for me. Feels great in the hand and the grip texture is spot on. Has a 4.5" barrel, 18 round flush and 20 round extended mags, a removeable mag well extension, steel sights and is optics ready. I have added the Mecanik M01 red dot that mounts with the included aluminum adapter plate...the pistol comes with 2 polymer adapter plates. The trigger is great, about 4 lbs with a clean crisp break and very short reset.
250 rounds through it so far including Sig, Blazer, Federal, Remington and Winchester from 115gr to 150 with zero problems.

Some years ago, I bought a SAR K2C (from Sarsilmaz in Turkey) because my preference runs to TDAs, not single actions. I haven't played with it for a while, so I can only report from memory that it was fun to shoot and handled my various .45 ACP rounds with alacrity. It's definitely a quality pistol, it's a CZ license, so you would expect that. It doesn't have a decocker so, because I dislike cocked and locked, I have the usual problem of having to gently lower the hammer once a round is chambered. Just like my CZ 75 Compact shown in the second picture for comparison. It's not that hard, but you have to remember to FOCUS!!!

I have one of their SAR-9s as I stumbled on it on sale at PSA for a pocket change price a few years back and was amazed at how nice it is. Been meaning to snag one of their Girsan HP copies…

I have several of the Tisas 1911 variants and they are very well put together. I also have one of the Turkish MP5 clones and it has also been flawless. Friends who own Caniks have been very impressed with them. The quality of the guns coming out of Turkey these days is very good, and they are excellent values considering the prices.

I have about 4 Turkish 1911/2011 clones, a canik, an m4 benelli clone, and a Durya glock clone, and two high power clones. They've all been really fantastic at really great prices. Only one gave me any problems and my local gunsmith got it running fine for $25 after he found a burr in the magazine well. I'm becoming rather fond of the Turkish stuff.

If you had told me two or three years ago that I would own a gun made in Turkey, I would have silently thought you were a little short on good sense. Now I own two Canik Rivals, which I find superior products, and a Girsan High-Power clone; I can't remember all the alphanumeric codes these days, but it's the one with the beavertail and no magazine safety, and is a fine gun.

The Turks have been making guns almost as long as we have. Most of their plants are ISO certified. They know what they're doing. There two criticisms that come up. One is political and we will skip that. The other is the Turks will build to any price point an importer wants. Some of their low end stuff is low end stuff.

Own or owned a number of Turkish guns. All have been excellent.

I have a Girsan 1911 Commander sized pistol, and I'm seriously thinking about taking it to a gun shop and taking whatever they'll give me in trade. I have put about 1K rounds through it and 9 times out of 10 it will fail to go through a full magazine without jamming. I obviously can't speak to the brand as a whole, but would hesitate to buy another one.
My CS45 and 457 do the same job with 100% reliability.

Some years ago I held an FFL and my primary interest was SxS shotguns. I got some very good ones at low prices from makers in the Basque country. For reasons I don't recall many of those makers closed their doors. Perhaps the arrival of Turkish SxS's was the cause. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and beauty of the Turks SxS's but I never looked at their pistols.
